Ride before the world catches fire!

Under a heat advisory here....so, doing something new. Getting out early! 


Taken pix here for the wild flowers before - but was always the other side of the scoot.


The pup and I do about 3 miles every morning after my ride - in the same park. Thinking about walking her in the dark then riding scooter after sun-up. Getting hot by 7:45 AM. She thinks it's fun.



Seeing a couple of big bikes out in the dark. Guys riding their HD's to work I guess.

Same here in the desert of SW Idaho - too hot to ride by 10:30 am, and supposed to be at or over 100* all this week. That black seat sure fries your butt in a hurry at those temps!

Did a ride last Saturday, temps up around 103*, at least we didn't have smoke from the big fire north of LA.

Does riding at that temp (100+) do any engine damage.  Asking that because the Like 125 is air cooled.

I do know that I lose power and pick up off the line when it's really hot. Not sure about any damage happening, but it can't be ideal to run our air-cooled scoots very long or WOT with the air coming off the pavement at about 115*F. Since my scoot is also air-cooled, I try to not push it in that hot air. Early morning rides, or late evening, until this crap calms down.

The heat doesn't bother me like it used too. I ride all times of the day including triple  digits and do allot better than years past. Perhaps it's that I became a vegetarian about 18 months ago and lost 50 pounds. Even working out in the heat in my construction business is allot more bearable now. Being fat and enduring the heat didn't work well for me. Losing the weight has made all the difference, especially with summer riding.

I dont worry too much about that on my People 150. I have ridden it in 17 degrees and would ride in 117 if I needed to. The main thing is that your fuel/air mixture is correct and always have quality oil in the engine.  I also take it a little easier on the super hot days. I bought mine to commute and weather usually doesn't stop me. Kymco makes good stuff.

Not to hijack the thread, but congrats on dropping the weight, and becoming a veggie. We went vegetarian 2 years ago and have never felt in better health. But I still don't like riding in the extreme heat - will ride in just about anything else, though.

Thanks for the replies to my query and congrats Dan on the weight lost.  Stig, just curious to why you have that top box and not the original Kymco one.  Looks  like it is larger in size as well.

I mounted this Bestem case becuase I wanted that row of LED running & brake lights behind me.
I ride every day in the dark through city streets...and in all weather.
It is maybe THE best safety feature on my scooter....although I do wish there were smaller versions....I'm not crazy about the size but love what it does for my presence on the road.
Givi and others have lighted cases for 3 to 5 times the price of this case from Bestem.
It has full time running lights....then the light bulb count doubles when you touch the brakes.
Along with the LIKE's already very big tail light. ....this combo is very bright.

No worries, having that set of led lights on the top box should make drivers well aware since it will be higher up in their line of vision.  The large tail light on the LIKE was another positive for me but would have like to have seen some leds come with the LIKE, maybe on future models.

Yeah.....LEDs weren't common when they started rolling these out a few yrs ago.
Don't know that they've updated anything on these LIKEs but the color of the panels.
And yes, that big tail light was a selling feature for me....along with EFI, two discs and shocks and 12" wheels and flat floor that fit my size 14 boots.
But what made me walk past all the other scooters on the dealer floor was the Lambretta mated with a Vespa shape!@!

Glad your lighting is working out for you. The electrical wires on the Bestem 929 top box are very thin and prone to break and therefore not work. This problem is known of on the Burgman and Maxi Scoots forum. It happened to mine to on my Burgman as I lost power to one side of my box. I was going to buy some Admore LED's but sold the bike. My Givi V46 top box on my SW doesn't have lighting and you've got me thinking about getting the Admore LED's for it.
