Retired at last!!
« on: June 13, 2016, 12:57:26 AM »
Well folks, after 32 years of teaching middle schoolers (and high school for the last 8 years), I am hanging up my Band Director baton and becoming CEO of Household Honey-dos and Naps!! I know that for some of you, 32 years doesn't seem like a lot, but trust me, teaching middle school is like dog years: each one seems like seven.  ;D

Now I get to ride whenever I choose to, and the scooter will become my primary commuting and errand machine (at least until the heavy snow hits.) The big F-150 will also be retired, and we have both earned it - lots of mileage on us both!

Hang in there, everyone. Your time will eventually come!

Congrats! Sounds like it’s well earned. Now go write the great American novel on the life of a Scooterist.

Congrats on what sounds like a well deserved retirement. Some folks like me can't afford to retire so we toil on.

Enjoy it. My friend and his wife are both teachers and from what they tell me you are correct on the dog years thing. They both will be retiring with in the next couple of years. Go riding. Thats an order.

Oh for Pete's sake. ....get a job!
I thought I felt the economy stumble. ....must have been you!
When I get done with my coffee and donut I will be forwarding the want ads to you.

Today...I plan to think more about mowing the yard.
(OK.....well done. We're both probably very aware how lucky we are to have had jobs that permitted us to retire. Our kids probably won't be so lucky.)
I'm enjoying my 5 am rides around town on the LIKE200I. ...the Burgman gets started a couple times each month. Wife retires next yr..(she's 7 yrs younger) then the Burgman will start two up outings....
Enjoy and ride safe

I am planning to ride to Springfield area to "supervise" Stig so he won't be a drain on the shaky financial system and NOW YOU tell us I gotta go supervise you! Oh, the tragedy! Oh, well. Honey-do's on a scoot are really fun!

I am proud to get to join the "Stig Club of Retired Scooterists", but I won't be doing any 5 am rides because I will be sleeping in after all those years of HAVING to get up at 5 am for work. My only alarm clock will be the two wet noses of my Lab and Retriever at 7:30 am. I am more of an evening rider anyway. And yes, we are lucky to have a retirement pension in a world where that is quickly going away. I feel sorry for how long my two daughters and their spouses will have to work. Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy the crap out of this time of life, spending time with my wife and all four of our four-legged "kids".

No supervision necessary, Karl. My wife has that one covered indefinitely!  :o

The last 5 years I've been telling my students that they need to be great students who will become contributing members of society so they can support me in my retirement. (They thought I was joking... :D)

Congrats on the retirement.  Looking forward to my own.  Only another 13 years to go!  Spend your days doing what you enjoy and I hope that includes a lot of 2 wheel fun.
