Oil consumption
« on: March 28, 2016, 12:58:00 AM »
Is it normal for a scooter to consume some oil between oil changes if ridden hard? I noticed that my Xciting 250ri seems to approach the add line shortly before needing an a oil change . I top it off before it reaches the add Mark. I change the oil when the reminder light comes on . ( about 1200 miles, I think). I usually end up adding oil at about 800 miles. The drive to work is approximately 50 miles ONE WAY. And it's ALL done at 60-65 mph (I occasionally may hit 70 for short bursts in the morning). I'm thinking it's normal consumption for the type of driving.

My 2013 Super8 150 "used" oil in about the same way. I believe it is normal as part of the owners manual pre ride check is to always check the oil level.

Wow.....I'm impressed.  100 mile daily commute on a 250cc  scooter!
I used to get stupidly happy climbing on my KYMCO for a 20min commute!
Almost made my job a happy experience the final 3 yrs.
Scooter riding can do that!
Good for you....and yeah...at that speed and distance. ..some oil consumption might be expected.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Yes, when I got it, I NEVER expected to enjoy it that much. I expected to ride it to work every once in a while. Now it seems as if I'll ride it about 4 times per week. The only reason it's not five is because on Wednesday evening I have Church and sometimes need to get home in a HURRY.

I Talked with a Harley rider. He calls it "WIND THERAPY " . I tend to agree.

That's a relief. If it knew I'd be riding it so much, I might have gotten an Xciting 500 or a Burgman 400. I hope the 250 stands up to that kind of heavy use because it will be a while before I can afford to upgrade

Maybe I won't ride it as much once the "newness" wears off. But so far it doesn't seem to be wearing off.

As the newness wore off my first scoot, I wanted to ride it MORE. :)
