Usually this:
"Do you know how fast you were going, Sir?"
"Not a clue, this speedometer is so inaccurate, my rule is keep up with traffic if I can and wide open and keep out of the way if I cant"
"You were going X"
"I'm sorry officer but thats not possible - the rev limiter on this thing wont let me get that fast without one HECK of a wind assist downhill"

The two times its happened I got off with a warning.
