Help with slow take off (from 0 to 20km/h)
« on: October 07, 2015, 07:12:59 PM »
I have a kymco super 8 50cc 2t 2015.

Here is a list of what I have done so far:

-Installed smooth drive boss
-Stock variator with 5g rollers
-1500rpm clutch springs
-Tecnigas q-tre exhaust
-Contra spring from this kit (https://www.heavy-tuned.de/racing_variomatik_maxtuned_gy6_4_takter_16x13mm_50gr_60g_70g/a-67838/)
-90 main jet
-Stock airbox (restriction removed).

I haven't checked my speed with GPS but I can see the scooter going over the 80km/h. The only problem is that I still have a sluggish take of. From 0 to 20km/h is quite slow and then the acceleration is great after that. I the scooter is also holding the speed on hills pretty well.

What would you do to improve the take off (from 0 to 20km)? I am starting considering going for a BBK and bigger carb.

Thanks

rollers seem too light. try some 7 gram.

8.5 is stock

but I read in another topic that when we use sport exhaust we need to raise the rpm to gain performance. Thats why I went light. I will try 7g and see how it goes.

changing rollers to heavier ones will make the acceleration from 0-20 even worse
change the carb first , carb will improve greatly the performance with all that modifications !!
but in the end of the day remember kymcos 50cc was never capable to race other 50cc in market ;)

Which carb would you recommend? 19mm? Do I need a new intake manifold?
