2013 Super 8 losing power.
« on: June 13, 2015, 12:44:29 AM »
This is my first scooter so I know very little about how it actually functions but I have been riding it heavily almost everyday since last October. For a while now it has been going a lot slower and it is only getting worse everyday. Have had it serviced and the gear oil changed a few times at the shop I bought it from and it seems to run great right after but the same issues come back the next day just as bad as before.

When I first got it it would go about 28 mph on straights and after I broke it in it would go about 35 down the smallest inclines. Now it can barely get to 25 on straights, It goes extremely slow uphill, and I rarely hit 35. It almost sounds like I am losing power going up hill as well. It sounds like it is struggling but gets quieter and if I idle for too long a on an incline the engine shuts off.

I haven't gotten it derestricted yet, due to a lack of funds in the past, but if that will resolve the issues I plan on doing it soon anyways. I would still like to get any issues I can resolved until then. Thanks

I'd definitely check the compression if I were you. If the compression is getting lower, open the cylinder and see what's going on ...
This is usually the culprit then check your contra spring.
