Got my 2002 S9 a new battery and she scoots good!

Well, pretty good....is it normal to have to rev to about 4 grand to get going? The scoot sat for a while, so I am wondering if corrosion may be on the centrifugal (?) clutch (if that what is is called) or maybe my manly 225# is bogging it down. My son, previous owner, weighs in at 150# soaking wet.

Other than that, what is a good brand of 2 cycle oil to use. I know I don't want/need the cheap stuff.

Its normal for it to rev thaf high i use lucas or motul motul is probably better but cant get just anywhere so you probabky want to use lucas

The previous owner most likely added stiffer "fly" springs in the clutch. Most scooters will rev pretty high anyway. Mine does not roll until 7k RPM. Then it flies.

You can adjust that to a lower rpm by using softer springs if it bugs you, but you are really better off getting more RPM as a bigger guy. The bike doesn't even begin to make power until 7k  anyway.

I am still just getting used to this new toy. I have owned and ridden many 4 stroke bikes over the years, this is my first scooter.

I haven't even checked the plug, and I know I need an air filter. It has 7700 miles on it, so I am betting there are some maintenance items due. I plan on putting it up when the weather turns and doing all dat good stuff.

Right now it stalls in the morning, but once it warms up a bit no problem. Again, the most I have done is new battery and fresh hi test gas.

I do love the feel of air in the hair and bugs in my teeth!

Read up on everything CVT related you can find. That will give you plenty to do in the winter.

The stalling is most likely due to gum in the carb/jets. Add 2 ounces of Sea Foam to a full tank. It might take two tanks to clean everything out.
Adjust the idle mixture screw. It's the smaller of the two screws on the left side of the carb.
turn it either direction slowly about 1/4 turn at a time.
The goal is to get the highest rpm you can. If it goes too high you can turn down the idle speed screw. Its the larger one, and counter clockwise reduces the idle .
If your mix screw is closer to the air box... Once you get the highest rpm turn it 1/4 turn clockwise. That will slightly enrich the mix.
If it is closer to the engine side turn it 1/4 counter clockwise for the same effect.
