Super 8 2t top speed
« on: August 05, 2014, 12:28:38 AM »
Alright guys I'm looking for someone that sells final drive gears for the S8 2t

When we derestrict our scooters we are getting them to go 40-42 (on the speedo)

Removing exhaust washer and all emissions
Removing intake washer
Installing drive boss
And #90 jet

Now we have installed a few 70cc kits and it gives it a lot more low end grunt, but the top speed stays the same maybe goes up to 45-47

So is anyone making final drive gears for these bikes?

What are you doing exactly that allows a 90 main jet to be used without it running too rich? Are you opening up the air screw or doing something to get more air in the carb ?

I'm at a fairly easy 40 MPH (only the flats) with blind pipe/EGR Pipe cutoff and weld, #85 jet, and smooth boss. I did open up the airscrew. I don't think my exhaust has a washer restriction but I have a 2T.

Also, thanks for making this forum active again.

I think the exhaust is holding you back.  70cc BBK's still running OEM exhaust?, anyone running Tecnigas pipe?

What year is you S8?  2 strokes after about 2005 are heavily restricted for EPA rules and don't run as well as earlier engines.  Same engine, still capable of running great, just needs a few more mods.  I have 2005 People 50 2Tand runs 50mph with only mods: cdi destricted, 85 main jet, the OEM exhaust doesn't have any restrictions and works great.  I think your S8 50 2T has the same engine, so should be able to go a lot faster IMO.

I am looking to buy a used 2013 S8 50 2T, so I am interested in your issues.
1st and 2nd usually have an unfair advantage.  3rd is usually the best, can learn the most from.  paraphrased from Don Quixote, over 400 years ago, still true today

Chaz

I think there was something diff about the 2005 People's carb-manifold that gave it more power than the Super-8. Im not really clear on what it was as I think both carbs were 16mm.

The people 50 before 2007 came with 18mm carb and after they were 16mm. It's a good upgrade to the newer 2t to switch to the old style.
2002 Kymco B&W 300; MRP 78MM "300CC", Naraku cam, Yoshimura rS3 exhaust, 17g Sliders, Yellow torque spring drilled airbox, stock carb #115 main #40 pj.

2001 "Yamaha" Zuma AKA MBK Booster; MHR OverRange, Dellorto 19mm BHBG, Polini "big" intake, RS-3 Rear shock, Stock cylinder.

Then thats like a nice clean upgrade. Let me see if I can can get my seasonal job back and I'll look into doing that People upgrade to the Super 8. I thought I looked at an old pre 2007 people's spec sheet and saw 16" somewhere.  I downloaded the wron manual.

What I see here http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/kymco_people_s_50_2006.php is the 2006 People has 3.72 HP vs the 2013 Super 8 at 1.50 HP. Thats quite a bit more power.

I think a pre-2007 People carb and minafold is the way to go if your not doing a BBK, an exhaust with an expansion chamber and open air filter and are sticking to a basic de-restricted exhaust.
