removing faring to get to wiring
« on: September 14, 2013, 01:15:04 AM »
I need to get to the wiring behind dash to hook up another accessory outlet. How do I remove the faring or dash to get to wiring. I plan on mounting the outlet in the small locking storage compartment on dash. This is a 2012 500 xciting. I have had it for 3 weeks now and the dealer who sold it to me hasn't been able to get me even the owners manual. This is a new scooter. I plan on ordering the service manual but that will be a month to get. I will be hooking my gps up to the outlet so I need it soon.
 Appreciate any help/suggestions.

Hi
I have the 2010,and just took my fairing off to reroute brake cable's.

It was super easy.
3 or 4 screws on each side in front of your knees.to where the lower body panel meets with fairing.
1 screw each side next to the screen.
Last screw is below the headlight.
Then the fairing will basically fall off into your hands.
Then unclip the headlight, and two turn signal connectors, and you are in!

First...Go to Stadium Yamaha or another Kymco parts vendor.   Follow the instructions to find your
Model right down to the page showing the parts you need.   When you are doing this installation,
Add whatever switches, wiring, etc. you may need or want in the future.  Try not to remove the fairing
Too often as the self tapping screws will wear out the plastic threads in the fairing studs if you aren't
Careful.

I can send pictures from my phone to an email address and would be glad to. The laptop I have will not transfer or send pictures I have down loaded.
