“cardanic drivetrain” had to Google that Ruffus! Only bike I had with shaft drive was the BMW K100RS. Comfortable machine, but had it cut out at walking pace, shaft locked & toppled me off nearly breaking my ankle! (Thank goodness for my Frey Daytona boot!). Put me off shaft drives.

I'm on this kind of propulsion for more than 50 years (BMW, YAMAHA, HONDA, MOTO GUZZI) and even very neglected ones I saw worn out but never completely destroyed/torn apart within its shank.

No I didn't make myself clear Ruffus.  The bike stalled and it was the engine stopping locked the shaft, causing everything to come to an immediate stop and me to topple over!  The original mistake was mine in not giving a cold motor sufficient revs...  Mea Culpa  So no blame on the shaft which was fine.

Ah yes, understood. This K-inline four do have some compression which is not to overcome by rolling, particular cold lubrications. Blocks easily.
