thinking on taking a ride up tomorrow to buy a t-shirt, my handicap tag should find me parking where I don't have to walk

same deal with our annual Hay Day (3rd Saturday in August) Main St is a State numbered highway, detours on narrow streets with turns, wouldn't want to take it with a semi. Fireworks in the evening.

 Nearby towns that have multi-day events have fairgrounds, a bit later in season. I always check the pumpkins out, I have a neighbor/former client that grows giants, and usually has one that weighs over a ton

When I lived in N.E. wife and I enjoyed the summer and fall small town events.
Anything which was close enough to reach on our Honda 90! - and, since we were teenagers, you'd be surprised how far we'd go on that little bike!
The Y.S. street fair is well organized - traffic is routed around the village - school busses shuttle the public to and from massive grass parking lots at Youngs Dairy 3 miles up the road.

My wife mentioned yesterday on the drive home how well behaved the people always are at this street fair!
Reminds us of the GOTR Mumford & Son's town-takeover concert w/e in the Troy Ohio a few years ago. 30,000 of the friendliest people imaginable. M & S's (British folk-rock group) brought a troupe of performers and literally took over the town for the w/e. It was ringed off save for ticket holders and businesses in town!

Semi-annual Yellow Springs Street Fair yesterday.

Going in Daughter#4's xB.


Only once did I find a safe place to park my scooter during these events (a kind policeman moved some barricades and let me park it curbside with-in the event!) - so now I take the car & assorted females. I'm rather familiar with YS so I know to go early, and know where to find parking within 2 blocks of downtown YS. (I get a kick out of some of the 'wilderness-inspired' front yards! "What HOA?!")


At the UnderDog (AKA, Wine Emporium) we found alfresco seating for our coffee, pastries and the Dog's famous breakfast burritos.


Some towns in the area host 2-day events - but because this street fair closes a main north-south State Rte. through the village -  it requires a pretty much a one day, dawn to dusk event.

try to make a living selling these ....! running out of ideas - he would then lay it on the road and dance in it! I did see one girl with one later - she looked like she was high on something


Friendly local fauna, or is it flora?


I told my daughter, "don't forget to come by and listen to Dino barking for the Yak Lady!"

Joe rebuilt this thing when the village said it was broken - now he tows it around town and tries to enforce the 25MPH limit in the village! He parks it in front of his house when no on 'patrol' duty.

It was another fantastic weather day - so I have no reason to doubt the figure of 25,000 attendees.

still hasn't rained yet, thunder in the distance, hot, humid, my 40 year old AC isn't keeping up, medical expenses have eaten into my mini-split fund and I'm pretty sure I hear the bear family outside. awake at 2am

    hope it cools down and the bears leave you alone!!
