It has another function, as an inhibit.  U.S. EPA wants manufacturers to make it difficult for end-users to modify any settings.

If released from the throttle tube on the handle bars, you will get enough slack to slide up the collet and remove the carburetor half cable at the splitter.  I used the universal style carburetor half cable from a wreck and mated the two.

Bringing all the components together is the easy part.  Finding the cable needs to be modified all but wore me out.  Keihin style cable end has a snap-in 90° tube.  The carb has a ring that secures the tube and releasing it is done with two safety pins and just just the right effort where your thumbs turn blue.

The next move is carburation.  I find the Keihin bolt-on carb just too time consuming to tune - two bolts to wrench off and four more at the bowl.  I chose a Dellorto PHBG. The advantage of its spigot mount is significant.  Less vibration is transferred to the carburetor and even better, to swap jets you simply loosen one clamp and turn the carb 45° giving access to the bung.  I used a Malossi spigot adapter part number M.024690 (also 20mm) and the mount is new technology too.  SAE J20 (woven silicon, 300psi, 500°f) designed for supercharger and inter-cooler unions.  I got mine from Josh at the SCOOTER GARAGE  http://thescootergarage.com/

Interesting comment, comparing bikes 10 years apart - yes, the EPA has been busy.  I have a project 2 stroke and here’s the story.  Everyone has the exhaust handled, so the next obvious move is on the other side.  The Kymco factory built a 100cc two stroke engine as the power plant for ATVs.  The intake is a true 20mm bore and still available.  I got mine here http://www.exportstrength.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_878_963&products_id=662

Roadcraft / AMERIVESPA 2015
« on: October 24, 2014, 07:39:51 PM »
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Scooter enthusiasts from across the county, and around the world, will be racing to Indianapolis for the largest gathering of scooters in the country.

Members of Indy SC submitted a proposal to host Amerivespa to VCOA in April, with The Indianapolis Motor Speedway being a big selling point in their bid. Participants will bring their scooters from cities and towns across the country for an opportunity to ride around the world-famous track.

“We are really excited to show off Indianapolis,” says Chris Sublett, president of Indy SC. “Indy has a strong scooter culture and we’ve been working really hard to plan an event that will show off the best off our city.”

“A ride around the Indy 500 Track is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Jac Carolan, president of VCOA. “Indy SC’s passion for riding and raising scooter awareness was also very evident in their proposal.” Averivespa will be in Indianapolis June 11-14, 2015. In addition to riding on the track, activities will include organized tours of the city, a vendor marketplace, evening hangouts, and a formal banquet.
Most recently, Amerivespa has been held in New Orleans, San Diego, and Lake Geneva.  Details, as well as registration, can be found at www.amerivespa.org as they become available.

Scooterists start your engines!
