I still haven't pulled the trigger yet. Good to hear you guys are having fun on your machines.

Hey guys, just wanted to share a few updated photos of my UXV 450i. I recently added a folding windshield from Super ATV, and it really works great. Rather than a solid windshield, I really like this model, which allows you the option to have the windshield fully closed, cracked open to allow some ventilation or fully open for an open air cab. There are two gas struts on the upper section of the windshield that lift it up and hold it up when fully open. I don't think you'd want to go riding fast across rough terrain when fully open, but it's fine for driving short distances at low speed. The windshield is quiet and seems of good quality.Funny you mentioned the mounting plate issue. I went with the Badlands 3500# winch and it has the 4 hole setup. I ended up ordering a Kfi mount and ran into some issues as well. I spent a whole afternoon messing with that dang mounting plate. I don't feel so bad now.
I was also concerned whether this windshield would work with the aftermarket roof I purchased from Off-Road Body Armor, due to the slight downward curve at the front of the roof. Well, I am happy to report there is still sufficient clearance for the windshield, and it works perfectly.
Finally, I recently added a 2,500-pound Badlands winch from Harbor Freight. I know, I know...those things are CHEAP. But heck, with the Super Coupon, who can pass up $50 for a 2,500-pound winch with wireless remote? At that price, I can go though four of them before I pay the price of one name brand model. Besides, the thing seems to work just fine. I did replace the steel cable with synthetic rope (I hate the way those cables fray and cut your hands!) and bought a rubber stopper for the front, because they don't include one with the winch. The hardest part of the whole winch installation was just mounting the winch to the KYMCO factory winch-mounting plate, because the Badlands winch is a two-hole mount configuration and the KYMCO factory winch plate is set up for a four-hole configuration. Thanks to a buddy and his tools, we made some "custom modification" and got it to work out just fine.
Anyway, here are the photos. I think the machine is looking pretty sharp now with all the aftermarket accessories. The only thing left to add now is a plow in time for the first snowstorm this winter!
Back from a 3 day ride and have found the ride a little smoother by moving shocks outward and backing off spring adjusters. Not a major difference but yet an improvement! It took that almost bone jarring jolt out of the ride when going over multiple whoops. Having the springs cranked up to full stiffnes was a little harsh on this old body. I do like the little bit softer ride. Found no issues with handling at speed, steering seemed a little bit more responsive going thru loose sand at a good speed, I think the softer spring setting allowed the suspension to respond better. The higher ground clearance is also a plus if you ride where that is needed. The removal of the sway bar had absolutely NO negative effects the I could find. Went thru some pretty off camber trails with ease. Make your own call on making this mod but so far I am glad I did....
Hi guys - I'll have the answer in a few days but wanted to check back in and see if anyone has done this in the interim since the last thread.
Gun boot mounts & box storage to the bed.
I hunt & trap all over and it ranges from dry and dust everywhere to one mega huge bog. Most of the overhead and floor based gun racks will not suffice. I've tried the large bag over the back but it winds up lasting about 2 storms worth. I'm presently using a floating shotgun case and laying it on the seat with the muzzle into the storage compartment under the shifter. You should see the bolts on some of my guns from a few trips without it - crazy.
Have you tried am overhead gun mount in your machine?
Just checking in if anyone's used the kolpin gun boot or strong hold system. Pictures and successes/failures appreciated. Looks like I'll be going the kolpin stronghold route and fixing it to the roll bars. Little concerned about where I'm gonna put the axe and how those angled bars will do but give it a shot. Looking at the added box for the bed mount but need to verify on the machine first and she's about 300 miles away at present. Not sure how that double wall tilting bed would do with bolts thru the sides. If anyone's attached something to it, would appreciate insight.
For as much storage as the machine has - still looking for more! Here's a bed pic from Saturday night. 1,429 miles on her.
