About 115 quid. The carb will need rejetting once the pipe is fitted or it will burn lean. I went up 8 sizes from stock. It's really easy to do

Probably got a belt that's too big fitted. The oe belts are expensive but you MUST have one to max the ped out.
Take a photo of the belt with a tape measure next to it, the original is a bando/ Honda belt

Take the panels off, clean and dry all the electrical connectors, then wrap them tightly in self amalgamating tape

Have you altered any of the screws on the carburettor ? Sounds like a blocked air filter, but then if you have put contaminated fuel in it....

I had the same problem yesterday. My own fault for washing it with a hosepipe. If water gets into the air louvres on the stator cover, it won't spark. I spent an hour with a hair dryer blasting it in and now it fires. I'm in the uk too. If you have any queries, just give me a bell.
The scooter is my sons, but I love messing about with it.

We seem to have hit a barrier now, I think the 6 g rollers have lost us a little top end. The bike still indicates 60 mph but we have seen 63 mph in the past.  I'm looking at mixing in 3x 6.5 gramme rollers into the mix and probably calling it a day... Or should I buy a race variator ? Lol

Start with the basics, new plug, connection from suppressor cap to ht lead, then the coil and its connections. What country are you in ?

I got the bike back from the ped shop with five jet sizes over.
Ran it on a new plug, it was still lean, up to six sizes over, still lean. The guy in the shop gave me some jets. I fitted the 7 th, the bike was flying but still a tad lean. gone up another jet size, now 8 sizes over stock. The plug is starting to brown off. Re set the air mixture and fitted an iridium plug. 60 mph on the flat. Gonna warm it up tomorrow, pour some redex onto the piston and take it on a downhill challenge, see if it ll hit 65 mph

Ok, So I fitted a new spark plug yesterday and ran the bike for about five miles. Inspected the plug, it looked the same as when it went in, So it's lean. I've dropped it in at a local scooter shop because of time restraints and asked the chap there to change the jets and rake the carb out. Will update once the works done

It's hit 63 mph today, lighter rollers have been fitted which have improved its take off. I've picked up a new plug for it which is going in tomorrow. From here we can work out if any carb adjustments need making.. Will keep u guys posted  ;)

Ok, my son managed to save some money and tonight we fitted a tecnigas next r exhaust. Surprisingly quiet for a sports exhaust, or it was until I pulled the wadding out of the end can.
This has changed the characteristics of the bikes pull. Looks like there's more experimenting with variator rollers. Will try going lighter and going heavier. Will keep u all posted.

hello I work on cycles, BMW cycles so a mechanic here.
Question I impose is this.Inherited this scooter ,It fires right up,but when you accelerate it dont wanna go but a very little ,I went and checked the variator seemed ok,clutch seemed ok,compression is only 100 # I figure its toast as it has a whopping 11000 miles... I would like to rebuild it to have for fun. Any clue as to find out where to get the info as to the year exact engine # etc. A reliable parts source I dont even know the year. Thanks for any help  ..Joe
It's entirely possible that all the restrictions are still on it OR it has an incorrect drive belt fitted. Have a look in the zx50 area, I've managed to trim my sons into the 50mph+ zone
