General Discussion / Re: Price add ons. Sticker shock?
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:24:25 PM »
When I got my Yager, I had to order one as they were being discontinued and no one had one.
One dealer wanted $4100 with all the fees, another said MSRP ($3499) + $120 doc fee. You can
guess which one I bought! Those fees are markups plain and simple. In some places you cannot
get around them but it pays to shop around!

Agility 125 / Re: Rear Tire Mounting
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:33:17 PM »
I always sell my bikes before they need new tires to avoid the cost! :)

While there are cheap tires in far off asian countries. Here in the good
old USA it generally costs $150 min to change a 2 wheeled vehicle tire.

Be glad you didn't buy a Vespa it's $300 or more to change one tire on
some of those!

I had an old HondaCH80 and tried to change  the rear tire on it. I bought
the tire myself to save some money. Well I couldn't get the rear tire off the
rear drive so I took it to the dealer. They charged me $100 to change it!!
After I paid I asked how the got it off and they wouldn't tell me! I never
went back to that shop...

Some bikes are easier than others to change the tires and you need some
tools to do it so it's not clear what to do. I'd try a few dealers, they are bound
to be hungry and might give you a lower price just to stay busy...

LIKE 200i / Re: Fuel / Gas Consumption
« on: February 12, 2014, 10:39:18 PM »
Well part of the problem is you only have a 1.8 gallon tank.

Probably 0.5 gallons are left inside to cool the fuel pump
so your left with 1.3 gallons per tank. That's 77 MPG it
could be a little better. Will get better when you pass
2000 miles or so.

I bought a Yager for the 3 gallon tank and average around
80 MPG so usually put in 2 gallons every 160 miles. The bigger
tank is much better in my opinion...

LIKE 200i / Re: I'm new to the world of scoot.....
« on: February 08, 2014, 11:20:46 PM »
After 1000 - 2000 miles your scoot will be pretty much broken in and will run a little
faster and maybe get a little better mileage. Mine gained about 7 mph after 1100 miles
or so. I thought I had a slow one at first!

People GT 300i / Re: Air box modification
« on: February 08, 2014, 11:12:32 PM »
I found on my Yager that getting more air into the airbox helped a bit. I removed the stock
rubber tube (it has a coupler in the middle that reduces the ID) and fitted a hose from a thru
the wall heater. This is bigger inside and allows slightly more flow. There also was a 90 degree
rubber tube inside the airbox that I removed as it also reduced the ID and turned 90 degrees.
She runs a bit smoother now and a tad quicker on take off.

Downtown 300 / Re: Breaking-in rpm limit for dt 300i
« on: February 08, 2014, 11:03:41 PM »
It's tough to hold RPM's below a certain point on a scooter as they tend to rise to
a set RPM then the transmission starts to work.

I'd vary the speed a lot during the first 100 miles to 500 miles. The engine will
remain tight for 1000 - 2000 miles so avoid redlining for long periods during that time.

But basically riding it normal with a little caution on hard acceleration and holding
high rev's for a long time and it should break in just fine. I like to double the run time
on the first rides (10 minutes, 20 minutes, 40 minutes etc) and allow sufficient cool
down between rides.

I like to change the oil out early (like around 200 miles) and use straight 30 weight
to help the top end bed in...

Downtown 300 / Re: ECU change to gain more HP
« on: February 08, 2014, 10:54:01 PM »
The "TK Turbojet FI fuel controller Lambda for Daelim, Honda, Kymco, Suzuki, Yamaha"
is probably a resistor to fool your bike into thinking there is colder going into the engine
 than it really is.

They claim all kinds of gains with those and it might make a little difference especially
if it is very lean from the factory.

You probably won't find a reflash for our bikes as the market is too small for anyone to
develop one...

Agility 50 / Re: Open air filter installation Question
« on: January 30, 2014, 12:38:30 AM »
"But ever since I broke it in, I noticed it gradually running more and more rich."

Maybe the automatic choke thing isn't working right? It's just wax and a needle valve.
I've seen manual chokes you could add on...

Technical | How To / Re: Tune Up
« on: January 30, 2014, 12:19:36 AM »
0.6 mm = 0.23 in
The plugged hose doesn't sound right. You need to check the service manual to
see how it should go. Here's a couple of pics from the manual.

It has a fuel filter and a fuel pump. Might just be gummed up. Try some techron...

General Discussion / Re: Fuel additive
« on: January 26, 2014, 03:32:52 PM »
Techron used to be good until they took the PEA out of it. Anything that works good is
probably being phased out as California has found out it causes cancer...

I have to wonder what Startron does as they say how good it is but not really
what it does...

My Yager manual says not to use ethanol fuel but that's all we can buy around here
so I use the Startron and hope it helps!

If you use Top Tier gas you probably don't need any other stuff, the problem is deposits
that clog small jets and injectors...

Yager GT 200i / Re: Yager gas tank
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:40:13 PM »
No it's metal, see the weld under the round top bolted on cover piece.

If you leave airspace it will rust but if you fill it with ethanol laced gas
it will corrode. You can't win. It should be OK. I sometimes leave my
vehicles low on gas so they get a fresh batch in the spring. Maybe after
10 or 20 years that rust will get you....

I've had a few bikes with rust problems but most were at the bottom of
the tank. The water settles out and rusts the bottom. Ethanol might fix
that!

What speed do expect it can do?
The only max speed rating I ever saw was this one 109 km/h = 68 mph

General Discussion / Re: Vietnamese Yager?
« on: December 04, 2013, 06:25:49 AM »
Well 2 different dealers have given up on finding it for me but I have one last possibility.

I talked to Mr. Bone, he knows a guy who knows a guy who might be able to set me up.

We're taking a ride Sunday to check it out! I have my fingers crossed!

General Discussion / Re: It's official... I have a scooter issue
« on: December 04, 2013, 06:22:48 AM »
I once had 6 bikes in the garage but then I got married and got rid of all of them.

Somehow a few came back so now I have a BMW K75, a Yager 200I and 2 old 70's Honda
Cub style bikes. I can't help it it is in my blood, my grandmother rode in the 40's and most
of my family has at one time or other too!
