Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Saturday Group Ride
« on: September 12, 2017, 01:57:26 AM »
Got up early Saturday morning pulled out the Aprilia Atlantic 500 and headed up to Moorpark to meet up with the Thousand Oaks Vesparados for a ride. Started out and headed to Ojai, Carpenteria, Santa Barbara, SantaYnez, Los Olivos, and back. Lots of country roads by farms, ranches, winery's, and a old stagecoach stop the Cold Spring Tavern where we had lunch. What a pleasant ride on a nice day.

We stopped in the Fess Parker winery. Funny thing about the winery. I didn't know who Fess Parker was but I kept wondering why they had coon skin hats. I thought to myself that's something Daniel Boone could sell. I almost said something but when I got home and told my sister about it she said "You don't know whow Fess Parker is?" Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, LOL. From Costa Mesa to the meetup point was 90.2 miles, the group ride until I split off in Ojai on the way back was 194.2 miles (got the best 65.1 mpg during the group ride so far on the Atlantic 500), and 120.8 miles back home for a total day ride of 405.2 miles total ride day.

Heading back I was getting the EFI light on and off. Wasn't until later I noticed the headlight flickering/dimming but kept riding so I didn't get stranded. Got home and found a loose battery cable. Tightened it up and rode it a bit today, seems good now.

Nothing says vintage like having the little fumigators out running around, ah the smell of two stroke. Here's a link to my photos and a few for interest. A little organized chaos. :D

Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Long Beach Scooter Meetup
« on: July 24, 2017, 04:17:58 AM »
After my failed attempt to test ride the BMW C Evolution electric scoot I ran over to Long Beach for a scooter group meet up and ride. We met in the parking lot of In N Out and started with 16 scoots but quickly lost one due to the engine cutting out. We took a leisurely cruise around the beach areas and ended at a lunch spot.

Xciting 700i / MyRoad 700i stalling issue
« on: June 27, 2017, 08:07:13 PM »
So I've got a stalling problem with the MyRoad 700i. Last week (5,322 miles) I was riding and when I came up to a stop light the engine died (electrical all still on). The bike restarted and I got home.

Today I was ready to ride up to LA but needed to hit the bank and gas station first. Before I made it to either as I was riding I lost all throttle response, the bike started loosing speed, I looked down to see the engine at 1,000 rpm, coasted into a parking lot (5,326 miles) and the engine died (still had electrical on). The bike restarted so I figured it I make it to the bank and gas station I'll see it I can make it to LA. I made it to the bank and gas station so I jumped on the freeway headed north but while riding at about 75 mph in the carpool lane the engine died again (5,335 miles) so I put my turn signal on and drifted all the way to the right side of the road. Once stopped I tried to restart it but it just cranked without trying to start. I did this a few times while playing with the switches, no change. Next I cranked it over while opening the throttle a little, it started once and died again. A few more tries lightly feathering the throttle and she started again. I got off the freeway and returned home on surface streets without further issue.

One other odd thing I noticed this morning (bike off) was the trunk LED light was randomly flickering. Tapping on the light or playing with the seat latch which has the switch in it made no difference. I just figured the LED was going south in it with the on/off and dim/bright thing going on.

Ok so there is another MyRoad 700i owner in Escondido I know and several weeks ago his engine kept dying on him also though his would die after 6 minutes of starting it and would not restart for nearly an hour then die after a few minutes again. His bike is still at the dealer where they ordered a stator for it (I'm assuming the crank sensor is part of it like my B650). They have not torn down the bike yet so my guess is maybe they have a scan tool and might see the stator or crank sensor dropping out? Another odd thing when I was talking to him I mentioned seeing my trunk light flickering and he said his was doing the same thing, weird.

In all the world has anyone had the same problem and what fixed it?

Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Short Bike Ride
« on: June 19, 2017, 05:01:42 PM »
Another sort of short bike ride yesterday down the coast with a few photos including a container ship entering the Port. Some photos of the Japanese Fishing Village Memorial on Terminal Island in the Port of Los Angeles. It's no longer there due to the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII.

Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Lunch and Ride
« on: June 04, 2017, 05:50:11 AM »
Today I met up with stuo, we had lunch while chatting over scoots and other stuff. After we parted ways I took a ride up PCH, stopped in Pacific Motorsports, they had two Like 200i's a nice dark blue and a red one. Next stop was California Boss Hoss motorcycles. This place has quite a collection of vintage bikes from early BMW, Harley, Henderson, and lots of other ones. They had a Salisbury scooter, some of those Boss Hoss Chevy V-8 powered bikes, and they sell the new Cushman II scooters. Hit a hobby shop, reptile store, Del Amo Motorsports, 4 Wheel Parts, Space X, and the oldest surviving McDonald's. On the Space X rocket this is the very first one that they landed in one piece oh also earlier today they launched and landed another one sending supplies to the International Space Station in Florida, amazing.

General Discussion / Short Ride, Collector Car Auction
« on: June 02, 2017, 11:52:43 PM »
Took a short ride around today checking out the local Fish Fry as they are setting up, over to the Aprilia dealer (cool Triumph) to get a certification letter for my Atlantic 500, then to the Russo and Steele collector car auction in Newport Beach, a showroom in Newport with two Pagani Huayras (find a cool program on YouTube about the design and construction of this interesting car), and a local fresh seafood shack.

Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Short Ride up the Coast
« on: May 30, 2017, 04:02:54 AM »
Took a couple of hours riding up the coast on my white B650 from Costa Mesa, Palos Verde Penninsula, Point Vincente Lighthouse, Manhattan Beach, and a short bus driver almost popping wheelies at every stop light starting out a few days ago and just getting around to posting. Nice views out to Catalina Island.

Xciting 700i / TDM Front Turn Signals Intalled
« on: May 30, 2017, 03:30:07 AM »
Just got done installing the Taiwan Domestic Market front fairing mounted turn signals (US models have dummy housings because the front turn signals are on the mirrors). I had already installed the wiring for them when I did the reflector/marker light install. Normally these lights only function as a turn signal lights but I wanted them to do both park (low) and turn (bright). To do this I needed a pair of diodes (prevent back feeding of each circuit) and a resistor (drop the voltage for low) for each side. All soldered and sealed with marine heat shrink. I ended up using some 1 amp diodes and 151 ohm 1/4 watt resistors. Here's a video link of the way it works and some photos of the job.
