People GT 300i / Re: what did you do today on your GT300I

I rode from Montgomery, Alabama to Auburn, Alabama.  I took I-85.  It was a good trip.  I rode 70 to 75 mph most of the trip.  I could easily increase my speed to 80 when I wanted to pass someone.  What would you do to get just a little more power out of this scooter?

I have found these post helpful and encouraging.  I just got back from a trip from Montgomery, AL to Cocoa, FL.  We took the cage but used the trip to look for motorcycle routes.  We started on 231 from Montgomery to Dothan, AL.  In Dothan we hit Hwy 84 and followed it until it hit Hwy 27.  I would have liked to follow 27 further south, but because of time constraints we got on Interstate 10.  The traffic was fast, but I think still doable for my scooter (People GT 300).  Hwy 84 and Hwy 27 are great motorcycle routes.  My neighbor has great praise for Hwy 84; he has rode it from Alabama to Texas.

I got the Puig (not sure which model).  I had it installed by my lbs.  So, I can't talk about any instillation problems.  I live in Alabama,(mostly warm weather) so I could had made it without a windshield.  The windshield is easy to put on and take off.  I like it.

I also have installed a windscreen on my People GTI 300.  I was surprised to learn how much the windscreen decreased my top end speed.  Without the windscreen I can get up to 85 pretty fast.  With the windscreen my scooter bogs down at about 78.  This is not a problem for me.  But, it was not what I expected.

People GT 300i / Have you made a long trip on your Kymco scooter?
« on: March 18, 2017, 02:44:51 AM »
I have made two reasonably long trips on my Kymco People 300.  One was 340 miles round trip; the other was a little over 200 miles (all in the same day).  I was wondering how many people on the forum have made even longer trips?  Also, what was your cruising speed.  Do you prefer Interstate or state highways?

I have had my People 300GTi for about three months.  I have been somewhat cautious.  I have rode about 800 miles.  Most of my riding is in town, 30 to 50 mph.  But, on a long county rode with no traffic, I got the scoot up to 85 mph.  It still had something left.  So, I have no trouble believing this machine will do around 93 mph with no trouble.  I took one 26 mile trip (52 round trip) on I-85.  I drove between 62 and 75 for most of the ride.  I haven't got out of the city very often, but my plan for driving county roads is to drive around 62 mph.  If there is no traffic, I would drive a little slower and look for deer.  Most of the time I wear full protection gear.  I always wear a full helmet, gloves and motorcycle boots.

I am still interested in safety gear, but it looks like I will get no help from this forum.  It does look like others are interested too, but no suggestions have been made.  So, I will look for information from other sources.  From my research the three most important items in order of their value are: 1) a full-face helmet; 2) a good pair of motorcycle gloves; and, 3) a good pair of motorcycle boots.  I thought a good motorcycle jacket would make the top three, but the jacket only made it to fourth place.  I wonder if scooter riders think it is safe to ride without protective gear because scooters are so easy to ride?

Thanks for all the help in my post about transporting my scooter.  I am a new rider and new to this forum, so I have a lot to learn.  What type of safety gear do you use?  I am guessing the weather will have some impact on what you wear.  What gear do you use in cold weather, hot weather and when it is raining?  Maybe you use one type of gear on a short commute to work and something else for a long weekend ride.  Thanks again.  Forums like this have saved people from serious mistakes...perhaps saved lives.

People GT 300i / How do you transport your scooter?

I have been wondering about the best way to transport my People 300 GTi?  What are you using and how pleased are you with your method?  I have had my scooter for a little over a month.  I have nearly 500 miles on it.

Motovation tells me that the Puig windscreen are not available, but should be in stock in about 3 months.
