great looking bike and great work, Ruffus!

do a search for Kymco dealers in your part of the country...call them up and ask them to order the OEM fender. I know my local Kymco dealer will order any part I need. Every state has to have at least a few dealers.

General Discussion / Re: hesitant to run

I'm guessing here, but let's start at the top.  A Super 8 150 isn't a new Kymco, it might be 10 or 15 years old. It's likely carbureted, not fuel injected.  If so, it will be struggling to run on ethanol mix, or (worse), OLD ethanol mix.  Carbureted motors were designed for ordinary petrol, no ethanol.  In a pinch they'll run nicely with straight boat gas, tractor gas - or even 100LL avgas.  But no ethanol in the mix. An older Kymco on ethanol is really hard to start, and will stumble and backfire until it gets warm.  There's not a lot that can be done, possibly up-jet the pilot jet.  If it's a Kymco carburetor, there's no jets available except the stock jets, so you have to switch to a Keihin CVK carb (20 or 22mm).   You might be lucky and find a pure petrol supply near home. The good news is that once it's warmed up it will run just fine!

I bought replacement Keihin jets for my scoot..they were identical to the OEM ones (I had a Kymco branded carb..I think)

But I’d first start with a thorough carb cleaning

Wow..very cool!

I had to look it up…and it shows this scoot is a 2 stroke. Does it have an external oil tank for oil injection or does it run pre mixed gas/oil?

A weak battery will cause a starter to make clicking or funny noises…not sure what you mean by the kick starter doesn’t work? It won’t start the scoot or it physically doesn’t move through its stroke, connected to and turning the engine?

Oil light comes on…how if the scoot doesn’t run? Or is it just one of the lights that come on when you initially turn the key?

sounds like it may be a carb issue? Easy for carbs to get some gunk in the jets or passages, especially if not ridden regularly.

Happy Memorial Day (to our US members)!.. what I'm reading is you want to keep a 2nd, spare scooter battery charged up for possible future use..and you'd prefer to charge it off the scooter but are having problems killing the lights to reduce draw during charging?

How about skipping the 'scooter as a charger' and using a traditional wall plug battery tender / charger / maintainer to charge the extra battery?

I would also think that a small scooter battery would have a very limited amount of power available to use in a power outage...could you buy a larger battery to use or a dedicated power bank that is designed to recharge and then power electric accessories? Lots of those available, now.

(if you're dead set on using your scoot to charge the extra battery you can replace your original headlight bulb with an led one to save a lot of juice)

Yes, what Karl said…I used a 24” piece of flat stock and cut a 7” piece off, leaving a 17” and 7” piece. Drill 4 holes, 2 in the short piece and 2 in the long, add a few bolts and you have a solid tool.

my only People S200 mods were for visibility to others...I upgraded to much brighter led bulbs in the turn signals / indicators / winkers...made the non functioning international front turn signals functional again (by purchasing a working pair form Ebay UK) as running lights and added reflective rim tape to my wheels along with some additional red reflective tape to the rear. Funny thing is I never ride at night! But if I did...

fuel injection cures many (ethanol) ills.. you're fine to run the ethanol fuel. I would not recommend storing ethanol fuel for long periods of time as ethanol will attract water into the fuel over time. (Chickanic (sp?) has a small engine youtube channel and did a big video on the #1 issue she encounters in small engine repair...water in fuel.)

In a fuel injected vehicle this is not a big deal...in a carbureted engine? Not so good. I live in Iowa, dislike ethanol immensely, and run non ethanol fuel (readily available at every station) in all my engines except my cars.

is it the front tire or rear tire? Do you have a picture of the wheel and how it's installed?
