Yager GT 200i / Yager battery replacement
« on: July 24, 2013, 09:23:26 PM »
Just had the battery on my '12 Yager buy the farm after 14 months from new delivery.

Got the bike in May '12 and rode thru October '12 and then placed on a battery tender thru the winter months. Restarted in May this year.

Ridden regularly from May until two days ago. Called the dealer and they told me to bring in the battery.

They put it on a charger for six hours and diagnosed a "dead cell"

(Forget the warranty - Kymco gives six months on the battery and does not include it in the standard two year warranty.)

For a replacement, they sold me a "WPS" brand, model "CT12A-BS".

Fit very well and did the job. One minor problem in the install - when hooked up it immediately blew the main fuse. A quick trip to the local auto parts store scored a new 20 amp fuse for a couple of bucks.

Cost for the new battery was $79 OTD. (Plus a couple of bucks for the fuse - Your results may differ)

Yager GT 200i / how do you unlock seat with battery removed?
« on: November 08, 2012, 06:16:21 PM »
i hope the subject line makes sense.

i'm getting ready to remove the battery for winter storage.

if i remove the battery and shut the seat, will the seat still open using the ignition key?

Yager GT 200i / Oil Service Light
« on: August 06, 2012, 09:01:10 PM »
I did a search here, read the posts and am still having a problem with re-setting the service light.

i've read and re-read the manual section describing how to reset the light and am obviously doing something wrong.

the illustration in the manual indicates that i should be seeing the numeral "1" and by holding down both the mode and adjust buttons it should reset to "0". I've taken that literally - in other words only a "1" or a "0" are displayed.

After reading the posts on the subject some of those who've posted are indicating that the oil service indicator actually records the mileage (just like a tripmeter) and that i may be toggling right past it while looking for the "1" to show up.

So should i be looking for a number that indicates mileage?

Yager GT 200i / Storage options for the Yager
« on: May 09, 2012, 01:13:06 PM »
First off, I'm not a fan of top boxes.

My previous three bikes (Honda Reflex, Aprilia Sportcity, Yamaha Majesty) all had storage options beyond the underseat variety. They each had at least one place inside the front shield that could be called a glove-box - the majesty had two of them.

My Yager has a generous underseat area and a bag hook. That's it - nothing more.

Since i've already mentioned that a top box is not in my future, has anyone come up with a mod of some sort to add something in front of the rider where "stuff" can be placed? Things like registration/insurance papers/sunglasses.

I make somewhat regular runs to the drive-thru area at a nearby post office so a space to carry letters/netflix return envelopes and so on and would like something to hold the items.

I'm not talking much - just something to carry items such as those mentioned above.

Yager GT 200i / Yager seat
« on: May 03, 2012, 09:01:00 PM »
This is my first post on this forum. I'm new to this forum, but not a cherry having a bit of experience on scooters over the years (2 Puchs, 2 Metropolitans, 1 Reflex, 1 Sportcity 250, and 1 Yamaha Majesty).

Just took delivery of a '12 Yager GT 200i and have been busily putting break-in miles on it.

My first day was spent with a "naked" seat. I grabbed my sheepskin pad for the next couple of days. Today I returned home with my butt crying for relief.

I'm a six footer, 32" inseam, and find the leg room to be "just" acceptable, but trying to wiggle backward on the seat for a little more comfort I came directly in contact with that "ridge" built into the seat and trying to sit up on the "ridge" isn't acceptable because doing that made it more uncomfortable.

I looked under the seat and the shell doesn't look like there's a ridge molded into it, so I'm guessing the aforementioned "ridge" is something molded into the cushioning and covering material itself.

Found this forum, registered, and did a search on seat issues for the Yager. The search resulted in nothing that really responds to my question.

The question: Has anyone done any seat mods to the Yager?
