Downtown 300 / rolling
« on: October 25, 2020, 03:47:33 PM »
OK for the experts out here. This last year my DT doesn't roll as easy as it used to. Meaning that when you try to just let it move you can feel and hear something kinda dragging. I called the dealer thinking it might be the wheel bearing but he said they are closed and that shouldn't be the issue. The best is new with only a couple hundred miles on it. Could it be something else in the CVT?

Any thoughts would be great on where I should start my search for a solution.

TIA

Downtown 300 / gear oil parts
« on: June 21, 2020, 08:06:14 PM »
Maybe I'm just missing it when I look online but I can't find it. I'm looking for the gear oil filler bolt. Mine will not tighten all the way. I looked online at all the diagrams but for some reason can't find it. Anyone have any idea what the part number is so I can order one?

Downtown 300 / belt noise
« on: July 06, 2019, 02:47:12 PM »
SO i just changed my belt and rollers a couple of weeks past. How long does the different noise last before the belt and rollers get set properly? It also almost seems like it "shifts" in the lower range. Not worried about it was just curious.

Downtown 300 / phone holder
« on: July 01, 2016, 06:07:12 PM »
OK thought I would start a new topic on this. I came across this somewhere, it might have been on here. What do you guys think of this? I like that it seems like it would be a nice solid install and looks like it would hold the phone well. Plus it would be easy to put a thin Qi charger I found on Amazon so it could also charge my phone as I ride. I might like it better then the RAM mount.

Thoughts?

OK I found where I found the website, wheels found it and talked about it in his mirror thread.

Downtown 300 / blue tooth speaker
« on: August 21, 2015, 10:31:56 PM »
So just for the heck of it I bought a blue tooth speaker to try on the DT. I got a waterproof shower speaker cause it was only $15. I placed it on the windshield just behind the top of the dash. The wind shield really helped make the sound better. The suction cup on it sucks so I'm goong to try using velcro instead. And now I need to get a holder for my phone so I have better access to the volume controls. Even at 70 MPH on the freeway you could hear it with the visor on the helmet cracked open. Not bad for being so cheap.

Downtown 300 / Noises
« on: July 26, 2015, 02:16:24 PM »
Ok 2 newer noises coming from my DT that I know you guys can help me with.

The first one is related to the front brakes. When applied I hear a kinda sandpaper sound coming from them. Is it pad related or disk related?

The second one is coming from the rear by the exhaust area. Only during acceleration do I hear what sounds like something is rubbing. A kinda light rub of metal maybe. If I let off on the gas it seems to go away or is so quite you don't hear it. Belt related maybe? or something else?

General Discussion / crash on go pro

Just a beautiful day cruising along on the mountainside and HOLY f*** THAT ONCOMING FIRE TRUCK!

The graphic video below show a head-on collision between a GoPro-clad California motorcyclist and a massive fire truck. The brutal wreck goes down just after the 2:35 mark. In the aftermath, around the 11:00 mark, you see the rider’s friend retrieve the GoPro at his wrecked buddy’s request, which was knocked off his helmet at impact and left sitting on the side of the road.

Jesse Lopez, who uploaded the video to YouTube on June 5, said the crash occurred on April 1 as he was riding his motorcycle on curving Glendora Ridge Road in the Angeles National Forest.

Lopez said in his YouTube post that he remembers riding on the winding mountain road but couldn’t recall the moments before or immediately after the accident.

Might be a little time before Jesse is riding again. And damn, GoPro’s are durable as sh**!

Downtown 300 / Wind noise?
« on: May 04, 2014, 02:52:26 AM »
So I just noticed recently about a noise coming from the front end. I used to always wear earplugs but now have hearing aids that I wear, they do help block out the load noise. But anyway when I am going 30mph or higher I have a higher pitched noise. It goes away under 30mph. I have a Givi windscreen on and I am thinking the noise is just wind noise but could it be from the front wheel? Thoughts from others?

General Discussion / International Motorcycle show
« on: January 20, 2014, 09:06:58 PM »
I went to the International Motorcycle Show when it was in town this last weekend and it was a big disappointment. If you are into leather and Harley's then you might like it. There was one local dealer that had about 5 scooters to look at. I did finally get to see the BMW's in person though. Didn't like them as much as my DT though. The Suzuki's were there too and look better with the new design but not worth the cost in my book. The 200 Burgman was not the prettiest either. $15 at the door for a slow 3 hour walk was not worth it in my book. Maybe if more manufacturers come back in the future it could be different.

Downtown 300 / Grease points
« on: September 01, 2013, 02:34:07 PM »
So I was looking in the manual and see there are grease spots for both axles and both stands. I have looked for grease fittings in each area and don't see any. How are you suppose to grease these areas?

Downtown 300 / engine code 10
« on: August 26, 2013, 12:48:40 PM »
I don't have the service manual on this computer so I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I started the DT this morning and got a code 10. What is it?
