Thought since I'm going to get one to get two nuts just in case it strips again.
The other threads are fine just the threading on the inside of the nut.... Not sure what I did. Guess I thought I had it lined up and didn't.
Will try to be more careful but will be a while before I can get the nut to put her back together....

...that nut should turn 3-4 rotations when tightening...then you gotta really torque it down once contact is made...

It's very easy to cross thread too. Start by hand.

..yes, it is...and the first time i dis-assembled a clutch, it took me an hour to find that damned nut...

I never heard of that ever happening before. Did you make sure it was tightened up properly 1st time? I marked mine with a line of marker pen before i took it off then i can retighten it to the same place when i refit it. I can get mine on pretty far just by hand and only use the spanner to give it 1-2 turns at most to torque it up.

Yeah I must have threaded it on the wrong way and stripped with a regular wrench... Was trying the hold it down with your feet method. What do most of you guys use when putting it back on? I know there is a tool but don't really want to buy it.

I use the hold it with my feet method, never had an issue. Sometimes it does take a few tries to get the nut started on the correct thread but i can tell if its cross threaded cos i wont be able to get it on much by hand. If it goes on and turns 3-4 turns by hand then i know its on right. Just never force it on at the start, if it needs force its on the wrong thread.

There are special tools out there but to my mind they are just a faff about to get on so it would take me twice as long to do the job.

Reverse feet method.............sounds like some kind of kung fu style lol  :D

Loosen it off a few turns until its hand tight with your weight on it then stand down on it and take off the nut, then just lift your feet off.
