Part 379 from that link is the one I'm seeking ($35)however an in-line filter ($7) seems much more reasonable. I appreciate the picture from wordslinger however, I am still confused about what I do with the vacuum line that dangles after installing an in-line fuel filter. To what do I connect it or attach?
Thanks also for the warning regarding getting to the reservoir for the brake fluid. Is it worth trying or better to take to a dealer nearly 15 miles away?
Finally, do I just need to disconnect the green wire on the CDI to de-restrict or do I need to replace the spacer as discussed in other posts? I have a 2003 People 50 2T.

..JJP, you will leave the petcock hooked up as is, with the exception of the fuel line going into it, which will come from the inline filter, like in my pic...

..doesn't have to be exactly like that, as the filter in the pic is a temporary one for me...

..the vacuum hose must be connected, in order for the fuel petcock to open, and allow fuel flow from the tank to the carb...

The black cylinder screws off the bottom of the OEM filter/auto cock(item 379). Pull the filter element out and reinstall the cylinder. Leave all three hoses connected to it. Then cut the fuel line going from the tank to the OEM filter/auto cock(item 379) somewhere in the middle. Install the inline filter. Should look similar to words pic when you're done.

Peters / Wordslinger

Now it makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

On the 2003 people 50, do you know if I just need to disconnect the green wire from the CDI to de-restrict or do I need to also change the spacer as described elsewhere in the forum.

Finally, in your opinion, is changing the CVT belt a challenging feat?

many thanks for your invaluable info.

..do not disconnect the green wire without derestricting the drive boss!!!

http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=6133.30

..the green wire comes out of the bottom of the cdi, not in the multi-pin connector...

Not at all. Just take your time since you've never done it. Pay attention to the way it comes apart and put it all back together the same way. You can use an impact wrench to get the front and rear pulleys off. Go easy though. Turn the air pressure down if using an pneumatic impact wrench. Electric impacts don't pull the same torque. Either way, just a few quick pulls of the trigger should get the nut off. Don't go crazy on it  ;)

Wordslinger et al,

I bought my 2003 PPL 50 from a guy in Wyoming. I heard that one is supposed to get a "drive boss" when purchased new. Is a drive boss a part easy to purchase or is it called something else? The seller did give me an Airsal kit that he purchased years ago. Does that accomplish the same thing?

Thanks again

No that must be a BBK. Cylinder, piston, rings, ect...?

What kind of top speed are you getting right now?

Call if you do order it. Make sure you're getting the derestricted boss. The one you want is all the same diameter. Restricted boss has larger diameter shoulder on it.
