just an update on the Ravioli. Finally did the hand wash, clay bar, dual action polisher, alcohol wipe down, followed by a spray on Griot's Garage ceramic coating. 3 coats. Car looks great from a distance...it's still 26 years old with 203,000 miles (326K km). Got most of the paint chips touched up all over the body...there were so many I know I missed a bunch.
Installed the new wheels and tires. It is so nice to replace old, corroded, filthy aluminum wheels with new ones. I saved the old wheels so I can sand them down and refinish ....someday....maybe.
So I'm done with the cosmetic refreshing. I sprayed 6 cans of Fluid Film (waxy, lanolin based rust prevention spray) on the underside of the Rav...and pumped a bunch into the rockers and frame holes...to help hold off the inevitable disintegration of this car. Even jacking it up to replace the tires was a little tricky as some of the jack points are...compromised?...missing?...
Still sitting on the workbench are the new valve cover gasket, throttle body gasket, intake gasket, cam chain tensioner gasket, vvt solenoid o ring, (all to fix oil leaks / seeps, will all be done together), 2 Denso O2 sensors, 2 rear KYB shocks, new rubber boots for the caliper slide pins and a rubber boot for the right inner tie rod.
The valve cover, intake and throttle body are all pretty easy jobs but I have to pull the fuel rail to get the intake off. That will require some more parts and a tool to disconnect the rail...so more to come.
