Here is the the mounting kit I believe should work on the US models.  The Downtown is also called the GrandDink in many other countries and was released at least one model year earlier than to the US market.

GrandDink? I've seen the name 'Super Dink' in Spain, Grand Dink should be something else
(GrandVista/GV=GrandDink here).

To mount "the bit that hangs down"... You remove a plate from below the tail light, place a paper template over the removed plate to mark the plastic, drill an 18 mm hole and then mount a stabilizing plate under the plastic. The plastic trim mounts over the stabilizer plate and then the mounting rails attach to the stabilizer plate (through the trim piece with the new drilled hole) using a bushing that fits in the hole.  See the above link for the instruction sheet.

As to the name... I guess it was the Super Dink. my mistake.

I hope they don't since they're rather different and a lot of people would prefer the smaller
and lighter Yager.

One would "prefer" 15 hp instead of 30 hp only if one would not have enough money to afford 30 hp. :)

Um, no, I said smaller, not less power.
I feel sick to my stomach when I gotta take the kawasaki to the city center, not to mention
with a passanger, it's a huge pain compared to ANY smaller scoot.

They probably won't it seems to me that if you go to Kymco's main site, they are really getting rid of the 250 line. With the power of that new 300 engine, no one is really going to choose the 250. 50,125,200,300,500 is a pretty decent spacing. To me though, for the US market at least, they could get rid of either the 125 or 200 class. Both are decent city engines but even the 200s are barely highway worthy. After having the Yager for most of a year, I really wish that the 300s had been around so that I wouldn't have to be making this trade right now.

It just seems like city-only people would be fine with a 125 and people that want to be able to do highway really need the 300. The 200 just seems like a catch-22 for the American road.

I have ridden my 125 for 3 years to work on the highway but it is borderline. 30,000 k on it now. I have just ordered my dt300i a couple of weeks ago. Hope it will be here in a couple more weeks. Might even be able to ride it by then. A lot of ice and drifting snow today again. Some spring!

As for the scooters in Kymco's line-up, I think they will keep a wide range of scooters going.  They sell in lots of different countries and have  different sized scooters for lots different reasons.  I think they will keep most of the existing 250cc scooters until they get a mandate for the larger 300 cc scooters.  They already have the engineering paid for in these scooters and will continue to make them as long as people continue to buy them.  To my knowledge, the core engine is the same in the P250, GV250 and X250. I could see them dropping the Xciting 250; but who knows.

As of right now on kymco.com, they no longer have a 250 class of scooters, people and Xc are the 300 engine now, and the GV only comes in a 50 or 125 package. My guess is the only reason they still have the 250s on the US site is due to overstock. If the DT does well, which i bet it will with gas prices this summer, I bet you see the remainders get slashed and the other 300's hit shores quickly!

Also, all of my comments should be taken from an American perspective since I can only comment on the riding culture here. Smaller countries that are lacking high speed infrastructure obviously have less use for the large scoots.

Takes me back away's on one of my early post's on here, I was looking for a 2011, Peoples 250 and I couldn't find any. I phoned a particular place and was told that the exporting of the People's will be down to nothing this year but the 2010's were still around. Looks like that is exactly what is going on. That led me to checking out a new 2011 DT 300i sitting in the dealership and I was sold on it. I will never degrade the S200 People's I had, it was to me as it was.....fun, great mileage, look's...but I needed a bit more power. When I purchased the S200 in 2010, the unit was a new 2009 and I did not want to get into that year difference this time. I am enjoying the 2011 DT 300i other than a few question's yet to get ironed out and the crazy weather start's to be Spring pretty soon! No big decision for me in purchasing the DT 300i over the Vista. Further, with many great people on this Forum, wished it were possible to have a gathering with all the friendship and knowledge to be gained. I am a Kymco Fan!

Yup, Syl - same thing with the GV... NO 2011's in stock... but they are still overstocked on the 2010's... hard to tell if they are just trying to clear inventory or they are on their way out the door...

I think scooter sales are very, very slow... all the Vespa dealers gone out of business, big dealerships minimizing their scooter stock...

It is the narrow and short seat and narrow wheelbase. I experienced the same when I had Kawasaki and preferred to drive two up on Beverly - it was much more comfortable.
Unless we are talking about two anorexic midgets, two people cannot fit comfortably on most small displacement bikes. (small .eq. <900 cc)
