Super 8 4 stroke Euro 4 2019
« on: February 10, 2019, 12:02:24 PM »
Hey folks.
I'm thinking of buying a Kymco super 8, new 2019 model.
It's fuelinjected and therefore it's equipped with  an ECU  instead of CDI box. My question is : is it possible somehow to unrestrict the ECU so it goes a little faster, and how much more speed would it manage?

Super 8 is a 150, isn't it? I think only 50 cc bikes are restricted.

These types of queries are always puzzling!  Why not purchase a scooter that is ACTUALLY compatible with their speed expectations?

People have had real problems with the 50cc fuel injected euro stuff. I'd advise having a good trawl through the Agility 50 forum here. There's not much that can be changed on the bike and some have struggled with gearing are variators etc.

I don't know what laws are in Denmark, so I cannot speak for Tonse.  While I have a few motorcycles, I like having a scooter for short local hops and to get around the bigger motorcycle swap meets (Mid-Ohio and Barber) .  In Missouri, no vehicle licensing is required for 49cc scooters (therefore no safety inspection either) making vehicle ownership that much simpler.  If I can modify my 49cc to go +35mph instead of -30mph, so much the better.  Seems like, though, however fast we go, wouldn't it be better to go just a little faster?

I believe Denmark has special requirements for little scooters - I get riding small engined stuff - it's fun to only be able to do 30 sometimes! :)
