LIKE brakes vs new Piaggio
« on: August 11, 2017, 10:40:33 AM »
First thing I noticed when riding the new Piaggio Liberty were the brakes.
The levers are shorter than my LIKE's, and take a much firmer pull to stop.
Sure , the rear is a drum on the Liberty.....but both fronts are discs -- and the Nissin caliper on the Piaggio is a stiff pull. The LIKE200I  brakes have always  been an incredibly light pull with massive braking action....like power brakes on a 60's Pontiac!
The Piaggio stops fine ....just needs a stronger pull on the levers.
Exercising the LIKE this morning. NO substitute for the 4" of extra foam on my homemade  seat! Even beats the big, comfy looking  Burgman seat!
Weak headlight, though.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Maybe you need to find some better levers like I did with the MyRoad. I like the stock B650 brake effort and adjustment. My Aprilia Atlantic 500 also requires a little more effort than I'd like which has shorter non adjustable levers.

Since it's a new scoot maybe the disk and pads have to get to know each other a bit [emoji6]

No, checked with other owners. ....same stiff lever pull.
Getting used to it.
One owner in hilly San Francisco is getting a workout !!
Do wish Piaggio made a parking brake for the rear lever...since I'm going to add a side stand.
