Did it sit for awhile? Check the spark plug? Compression test? air filter? fuel filter? exhaust bearings?

Welcome to the forum!!!

Fill us in a little bit more. What have you done to trouble shoot? Did this happen while riding? fell off a mountain?

Then I would move to the fuel system. Pull the petcock, and remove the screen up in the tank. They get clogged real easily. Then add an In=line fuel filter, and pull the carb. You need a can of spray carb / brake clean. Pull it apart, and clear all the passages.
The jets / ports may be clogged.

The next thing is a compression test. Maybe a burnt or sticking valve. Maybe the valves just need an adjustment.

This should keep you busy for a minute.

Since it does run, it HAS to be somewhere in this list.

You're welcome for the welcome. Thanks for saying thanks! ;D

thanks  Doesn't have a carb, fuel injected. Going to try compression test. If that isn't it think it could be the clutch.   appreciate the insight

Can you post your findings after you do the compression test and such. I'm having the same troubles and can't figure out the problem

Does it feel like a limiter at 4500?  Maybe ignition coil is failing.
