Opinions on Variators?
« on: September 19, 2013, 12:26:30 AM »
My OEM variator is trashed. Had a vibration, finished my ride home and took it apart. Broken.

The struggle was real!

So my question to you guys is which variator do you guys find best or what did you buy that worked much better than OEM?

I figure that now that I am forced to buy a new one I'm going to spend the money for something great.

Have 5.5g Dr. Pulley sliders but they now have some wear after this incident.

So I went and got the Malossi Multivar. The scoot runs great now.

Very consistent acceleration with the new variator. Far smoother acceleration than the OEM variator and no flat spot like the OEM has. Higher top speed as well, but I'm 95% sure that's just due to the shorter drive boss that came with the kit.

The white counterspring helps a bit with re acceleration and holding speed uphill but I will probably buy a 1500rpm spring soon.

Thanks for all the replies and help! You guys are the best!   >:(
