Put my 85 jet back in . stock was 80 . Will give it a try if the rain ever stops while i wait the year for my springs to arrive
2007 AG50 , smooth boss , k+n , cdi cut , sports silencer , 1500 springs , 5.5g rollers

A few sizes up from the perfect jet (e.g. from 90 to 94 in my case) will change a fast and responsive scoot to a lifeless and boring ride...

But beware : a few sizes down from perfect will change the same scoot into a short lived piston-eater  ;D

Absolutely

Work your way down one size at a time. Jumping around can be confusing.

You can run rich for years and do no damage. Run it for a few weeks one or two sizes too small(lean) and oops, there goes the piston.

Never had a piston go on me, yet, what happens when it goes? Does the engine just seize up and stop?

Hopefully i never experience it, just wondered what the worse case scenario is tho? Is the engine normally repairable with a new piston or not if it does happen?

Got me worried now since im sure i was running lean for a few weeks after i fitted a Leo Vince, upjetted last weekend anyway and all still seems good so im hoping it hasnt done any damage.

4 strokes are much less sensitive to running lean. The enemy here is heat. 2 strokes need the fuel/oil for cooling as well as lubrication. 4 strokes do too, just not as much. Not matter what condition the fuel mix is, there is always oil pumping through the engine.

Most of the time the rings shatter and score the cylinder and you immediately loose all compression. That's the best case scenario.

What's the worst that can happen?
A chunk of piston falls down into the crankcase and wedges itself somewhere it should never be. The crankcase gets cracked and that's it. The entire engine is done.
