MXU300 User experiences (10 000km)

Greetings from Northern Europe!
I decided to join also, cause you don`t have so many writers here.
My story with MXU300 shortly. Bought 12/2007 and now it has 6900 km. It`s registered and road legal version. Problems I`ve faced so far :
- rear axle was leaking oil. This was because the breather is too tight. Oil warms up when you drive with it and gets pressure inside the oilchamber. Because the breather is too tight, it won´t let the pressure go out. Solution was to make a little hole to the breather. Now it works fine and no leaking in sight.
- Motor oil consumption. It is leaking motor oil from the cylinder. They changed cylinder gasket for free, but did not help. Has anyone faced same problems?

Still, I think this is most worth of money Atv, at least in Europe were they give 2 years guarantee without kilometer decline  ;D

Hi Kent, welcome!

Interesting tip about the breather.  What speeds and how long did you have to travel before the leaking started?  I assume your act speed is higher than most MXU see in the states since it is road legal.  Are people in the states seeing this I wonder?

I have not seen any issues with our MXU300.
Nothing leaks anywhere....it has been a good strong quad.

Keep us informed on what all happens to yours...

It started at around 3500km. Before it started I had been driving several long (150-300km) journeys.
I use Kenda Speedracer tyres, they are more suitable for on road purposes. Top speed with these tyres is 90km/h or 56 miles/h. Normal speed when driving long journeys is 70-80km/h.

Personally I don`t think those problems are big issues. I´ve seen much worse when driving with chinese atv:s. ::)

Oil is coming out of the cylinder approx. 1 liter per 1800km drive.
Do you think that is much?

Update.
I tested different oil to see if that would be the reason for oil leaking.
In service they use Castrol 15w-40, I changed to 20w50.
Result was a little bit better. Only small amount of oil is leaking now.
But, it still loses oil one way or another. Motor is eating it also  ???
Has anyone faced same problems ? It has now 8000km/5000miles in meter.

I´m also curious how the one they sell in Europe differs from the one they sell in Usa ?
For example, what kind of tyres comes within?And what size?
Here they sell it with Kenda Pathfinder 22-7-10 in front and 22-10-10 in back.

update.
It has now 9000km in meter. New trouble came, some bearing is making noise at the gearing box.

I tested it different ways and I believe it is number :

91005-LBA7-900 - Kugellager 25 x 47 x 12mm 6005LLU

Well, those are regular 6000-series bearings and I don´t have to pay those so no big deal.
They can´t tell for sure what makes the noise before they open the gearbox. It´s good to have
 2 years guarantee. 1 year and 4 months still to go  8)

Thanks for the update. Let us know what the dealer finds!

I haven't seen a 300 leak as you have described but I have seen (heard I guess) the bearing noise and bent shift fork.

Yes.
I changed service place and it really was a good idea. They immediatly reserved time for motor opening.
It is not normal such a big oil consumption, they say. :o
Same time they also open the gearbox and check what is wrong with it. I deliver it to service after next week. Let´s see what they find out. Kilometers now 9500km

Yes, things have gone ahead.Dealer opened motor and piston oil ring was the problem. It most likely  caused huge oil consumption. Maybe next week I can get it back from the service.
They have not opened the gearbox yet to see what is wrong with it.
Also there are some loose on rear axle bearings.Not much yet but it won´t get better when kilometers increase approx. 1000km/1 month.

Little update here also.
In service they changed also gearbox bearings, so it´s like a new now. :)
I got new rear axle from dealer. It had worn out from the place that bearings are assembled so it would make no difference even if bearings are changed.
Within few months we will see is there any change in oil consumption now that they replaced piston rings.
Kilometer reading now 10250km and increasing...

Well, I had a little accident and this story is over now. :'(
It smashed so bad that it was not worth of money to repair it.
Positive thing is that now I have a lot of spare parts for my new MXU300.  ;D I still believe Kymco is worth of money so I decided to buy a new one.
Not a brand new, it has already 3000km in meter , but new one for me.
