Never leave home without them~!
« on: May 08, 2026, 10:05:40 AM »

Sometimes when I'm in a hurry - I forget to put them in, I never get more than a block down the street before I realize what's the matter!
With a closed full-face modular helmet - these work for me.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I love ear plugs! I will never get on a bike or scoot (or even mow my lawn) without them!

I wear ear plugs and have a Cardo system with speakers in my helmet. With plugs in and music on I can still hear surrounding noise and traffic just fine. It's the perfect combo for me.

I admit to no hearing protection when I ride, and quite often no helmet, boots, gloves, just wearing t-shirt, shorts and my Vibram 5 fingers.

I do wear a chainsaw helmet w muffs when working with my saws, chaps too

Randy, I listened to music too loud when I was younger. (like most of us)..and I know and have known quite a few people that had very poor hearing...so I want to do everything I can to extend my ability to hear well! I've got a buddy who is becoming difficult to talk to as he can't hear or understand half of what I'm saying. It gets frustrating to communicate with someone like that.

I don't want to be that guy!  (although my daughters would say that I am already that guy)

I never went to a lot of concerts, as said, I wear a chainsaw hat, and shooting muffs, and noise cancelling headphones in my tractor

but earpllugs irritate my ears

I'm with ya on this.
I buy a big box of bagged ones every now and again and travel with spares.
Often on group rides I give out a pair or two for folks who find the ride louder than they're used to.

I imagine it's too late for me. Over 60 years of riding with no ear protection and many earlier years of playing in rock bands, my hearing is definitely compromised. Add to that, a condition called Meniere's Disease has taken most of the hearing in my right ear. Simply put, I just don't pay much attention to it anymore. And yes, I'd do it all again!

My latest earplugs are these babies:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/EarPeace-Motorcycle-Ear-Plugs-Motorsports-Black-Case/dp/B076VVV5WJ?th=1

Been using them for 2 years now and they are both comfortable and effective.  Not the cheapest maybe, but you get what you pay for!

How do I manage not to lose them?  Now that's a whole other post about turning every ride preparation and end into an OCD sufferer's dream / nightmare!
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

I've used fancy ones like that.
They're great but I fear I'm better off with a box of packaged foamies.

Nice though.

I'm finding myself gearing up less often, just hopping on with what I'm wearing, t shirt, shorts, Vibram 5 fingers, no helmet, cooler weather I might gear up, or a longer ride that takes me into a nanny state, local NH & ME,no helmet requirement

These are the ones I use. It comes with 2 pair and I use 1 for riding and 1 for work.
https://www.amazon.com/Earplugs-Sleep-Noise-Reduction-Comfortable/dp/B0DK6JZ5L3
I like that they have a wide base so I don't push them in too far. I have done this with other earplugs and had to use tweezers to get them out.
