Some good photos there Stig.  Glad you're back in the saddle after your left turn contretemps.

....and I used to think a "left-turner" would get me from the front!
I'm not sure I reported here - but a few years ago a minister in his pristine white Buick passed me in my lane beneath my left elbow along this same 'no-passing' stretch of road. I met him up the hill at the light. Silver-haired guy with "clergy parking" sign in his back window. I tooted, and gave him a WTF??!! hands in the air through his back window.

I'm probably approaching 6,000 miles in and around this State Park, on the LIKE. Stuff's bound to happen.

Statistically, the more miles we do the shorter the odds get I suppose. We can only hope when it happens to us we're wearing ATGATT and get off relatively lightly.  I've walked away from two high speed get offs down the years thanks to protective gear and I hope that I learned from them.

(One was a bit like yours and so I'd argue not my fault.  The other was, if I'm brutally honest, my fault for going too hot into a bend!  These days I always come out of most bends thinking "I coulda carried 5-10 mph more through there."  Called a margin for error I believe.)
