Hi Viz on a grey day...

Heavy overcast after sunrise this morning.
My favorite time to ride in all this hi viz!



(I did something different yesterday while riding in the rain and dark. A truck pulled up to my right at a side road...and kinda kept rolling. Wasn't convinced that he saw me, so flipped on my left turn signal. He saw that and stopped rolling. )

I don't ride much of a evening or night but of a day when I pull up to a intersection I make eye contact with a driver. If this doesn't occur I assume they will pull out in front of me and ride accordingly.

I think most long term riders develop a sixth sense for this? Or maybe realise they’re all out to get us!

Another annoying habit of motorists is tailgating a rider.  On two lanes I simply pull over and let them pass if they don't maintain a reasonable distance.

Another annoying habit of motorists is tailgating a rider.  On two lanes I simply pull over and let them pass if they don't maintain a reasonable distance.

I don't have a problem with this on my pre-dawn ride outs - but once I'm back in the city coming  home 3 hrs later I'll usually have to pull to the side 2 or 3 times.
I'm not stupid - I know that on the return ride I have to go the speed limit or a little more - but of course....etc.

Truly unaware of this. So removed.
I don't ride in London. In my little neck of the woods this vest, while some big city folks fret that it will make me a target, gets attention from distracted cellphone drivers. Which is all I'm trying to do.

Just trying to be amusing, not offensive Tom. Makes me smile the invective the vests generate over here; mainly on Twitter it has to be said!  If they get noticed and save just one biker / scooterist from being hit, then money well spent in my view.

I wear something similar when out in the gloom.

I could see where a high viability vest would be so much better in overcast or low light conditions over wearing all black clothing.

On a ride this summer in very warm weather I pulled up next to a highway flag person. While making small talk he commented on my safety gear, (Dress for the slide not the ride) .
