OEM repair manual recommendations for engine oil viscosity
« on: August 07, 2019, 06:15:10 PM »
I have looked online at the  Kymco 300 DT service manual( same as 200 DT). The oil spec can be a large variety depending on outside temp. It gets hot where I live (104F) , but not sure I need to run the 20-50w stuff. I plan on using a full synthetic oil. The lowest winter temp here is maybe 38F I’m guessing many 300DT owners just use a quality 5-40 or 10-40 weight oil. What are you guys using? I still have a case of full syn Vespa oil (5-40). I sure would like to be able to use it.

Use it. The temp chart in the owners manual is quite flexible. I don't think you can kill these things as long as you have SOME oil in 'em!

I just changed the oil to 10w40.

the oil used at last change was the same 10w40 (car) oil. No problems at all :)
