Not a DT 300 but I have had more paint jobs than I have Picts...

Use NOTHING except 2 part (stage) urethane enamels or epoxies. I paint for a living, and can tell you for 100% true, your bike can be whatever color you want, and shouldn't cost you more than 400.00 USD to get it.

The paint is the expensive bit. Labor can be cut to a few hours IF you take everything apart, and bring it to a PROFESIONAL body shop. Forget Maco or Earl Shibes kinda places. They all hire kids that want to pay for school or pretend to know how to paint until they get fired.

Find a body shop. One that does collision repair or a Marine outfit that sprays boats. Forget the drive thru spray guys.

Sounds counter intuitive but trust me. Drive thru spray guys suck!

Third paint... I dont have the red or the green versions anymore, but you get the point.

Once again... Trust me. These paint jobs are flawless.

One was Imeron, One was Nason. One was AwlGrip, and the final one depicted here is 1/2 Nason, and 1/2 AwlGrip.

All have 2 part epoxy primer, and 3-4 coats of finish paint applied in an 8 hour day. The bike was always re assembled the following day, and ridden home.

Another benefit is you NEVER have to wax it again. In fact if you do, it destroys the paint by sealing in vapors that should otherwise release.

I have a thread here on the paint job pictured. "Umpteenth build". My earliest threads have pictures of the Green, and Red/Burgundy versions. I think there is a white version as well. So 5 paint jobs in 6 years.
