New Scooter Trailer
« on: August 06, 2012, 09:59:16 PM »
Got this off Amazon for $100 shipped. I tested it yesterday at 60mph and it did fine empty but will be much better with weight in it. Hold 70lbs and weighs just 19lbs. Simple 1 bolt hook-up onto your lower shock bolt. On my Kymco the bolt is hidden by my air box but this will change soon.

Buy it here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DWFVGI/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00

I would be too nervous using that. I know its no doubt been tested etc and is prob 110% safe but it would still have me worried it may tip and cause me to come off  :o Our roads can be potholed in places and some are not great at all for a trailer so I prefer a backpack or storage box myself.

On flat, straight US roads i think it would be good tho.

Chaos is my co-pilot.

I looked at the Amazon link. The trailer is intended for bicycle use. Those tires are probably not meant for speeds greater than 30 and under constant use. I will admit, the trailer is a cool idea, but not something I would use on any highway or for more than a few miles. You'd get sued out here by the cell phone toting soccer mom in her lifted F-150 if she broke a nail trying to avoid you when you get a flat on that trailer.... Crazy world, I tell ya.

The tires are rated for 66mph, it has quality ball bearings and is well made. I did not go into this blindly. It may not be for everybody but I am happy with this setup. I am not the only person using these behind scooters. And the soccer Mom thing......lol. If I was concerned about all the people who could sue me I would never ride. I just carry good insurance.

In this state you have to have a trailer licensed here, I dont think the DOT will approve that for highway use or give it plates here. Still cool tho.

I didnt even consider the law. Now i did i realise it would be illegal here in Scotland i guess, unless i fitted lights to it, prob reflectors too, and also a license plate if i had a load which came up to my scoot plate.

Blue has a trailer for his A50, he seemed to get on ok using that.

In Colorado, USA if the entire trailer is less than 4 feet from the rear of the vehicle it does not require a license plate or turn signals and brake lights.
