I'm embarrassed to think how long I have owned these riding jeans without their first wash!
Bull-It brand, armored with D-30 (knee and hip), and with COVEC in the impact and "sliding" areas.
Covec is a material which offers abrasion resistance, cut resistance, and low heat transfer.
Into the cool water wash they went, inside out. Then hang to dry.
The 'padded' areas are the Covec.
I wear them every ride, as well as helmet, leather gloves, armored jacket (elbow, shoulder & back) and heavy boots.
Line drying, inside out.
COVEC in rear "sliding" area....and pockets for hip pads.

Front with COVEC & pockets for pads at knees.

Warm in the winter -
warm in the summer!
Do they work? Hope I never find out!
Stig
PS: out of the box they are somewhat water repellent - probably not so much, now they've been washed. I have Frogg-Togg over pants for heavy rains and winter riding.
