trying something new - ear buds
« on: April 11, 2025, 04:49:43 PM »

I figure if used in the mode which lets me hear ambient sounds - they'll be little different from the 3M ear plugs I always wear.
This, kind of inspired by the Xmas present from my daughter - as her pop awaited the new Dylan flick.

I figure after I leave the city I can just about reach Yellow Springs through the dark boonies
while 3 Dylan's play. (Rolling Stone, Desolation Row, & Lilly-Rosemary and Jack of Hearts (Baez vers.)

My daughter pointed out that I was wearing the buds up-side-down. I had a 50% chance of getting it right....

Be interested to hear how you get on with these Stig. I tried my Skullcandy buds a couple of times, but found them way too uncomfortable under my HJC FF helmet?

go for it, Stig! I also have a problem with any ear buds knowing which is the right and left one. I might be in the minority but I listen to music (at a low volume, with ear plugs, still able to hear all sounds around me) on every ride. If my music isn't working, for some reason (rare, but has happened), I don't ride.  Rock on!

Thanks Hawk!
time to try some new things.
I'm not getting any younger - already outlived my brother - and all but my 97 yr old mom. She loves music too, even though she is now mostly deaf.
And wine.
She loves her wine.
My brother used to say she's going to outlive us all - because she stays "pickled" every evening after her dinner in the 'home'.
Been proven right so far :) ... she'll tell you, "there's nothing wrong with me - dammit!" - - she's really going to be pissed if she lives to be 100!

I did get to the Dylan movie, 3 times now. Larger screen, each time.
Crazy - one time I took a "date".
My wife's very aged best friend "loves Dylan"!?! Thrice divorced - she doesn't date these days.
She heard from me, through my wife,  that she could expect a crowd of maybe 3 or 4 at the showing.
Not kidding. (maybe 20 people, in total, at the 3 showings. VERY senior folks)

anyway - she was very hesitant to go sit in an empty theater. So at my wife's suggestion...... !!
She loved the movie....and we had coffee in the UnderDog afterwards - and talked about the movie and when and where we discovered Dylan.

I think she had a good time. I did.
and she saw that Y.S. might not be such a spooky place.

You can try POWERBEATS PRO 2...they wrap around the back of the ear and fit almost flat in the ear. They are a little pricey, but i have used them for the past 8 years and they have been great
