A Scooter and a Harley
« on: May 23, 2021, 09:25:46 PM »
I know much is made of how motorcyclists often don't see scooter riders as true brethren, but that is not always the case. I have a friend from church who rides a Harley, and we got together yesterday afternoon and made a nice two-hour ride through the farm country, stopped at a brewery for a beer and a bite to eat.

Sad to say I did not get a picture of the two of us with our bikes, but I did stop on the way home to take this pic of my scoot at an Appalachian Trail road crossing. For those who are interested, this is adjacent to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Berks County, Pa. Absolutely stunning countryside in this area, and if you're ever in the area, you could for sure spend a day or enjoying the many back roads on two wheels.

P.S. Next time, I PROMISE to get you all a photo of the Harley and the scoot. Not sure what the size difference in engines between my 150 and his Harley is, but I'd imagine he's got to have at least 10 times the CCs I do. And yet, I led on the way down to the brewery and he remarked that "you were moving pretty good on those back roads."

Not knowing what Harley he has I used the largest bike 905 lbs with the 1250cc motor 94hp for  .104 hp/lb
Honda 150  294 lbs 14.4 hp for  .049 hp/lbs.

My neighbor rides a Harley and is a good person but I don't think he would want to be seen with a scooter rider. LOL

On the ROMEO rides if 60 riders show up only about 2 or 3 will be on a scooter.  One guy on a Vespa another on a Burgman 650 and what ever Kymco I happen to ride.

PA-OUTDOORSMAN I take it you weren't the lucky recipient of the 550 million?

Just asked my friend the model of his Harley. It's a Road King Classic. 1,450 CCs. So roughly 10X my 150.

You didn't happen to catch the year?  Some of the 1450cc only produce 67.44 hp.

The power to weight ratio is .089 hp/lbs on the Harley.  While the engine is 10 times larger the horsepower is not at 67.44

Your Honda produces .096 hp/cc. The Harley produces .046 hp/cc.  Your little Honda produces almost twice the power per CC more then the Harley.
