Passing along some hi vis gear

Coming  down the 55mph road in the dark to my coffee  village I passed the village's  Interesting Character riding to town on his bike.
He rides in absolute stealth mode....and I barely spotted him in the Burgman's excellent  twin headlights.
He's  proven to be an expert on all things and would argue  with me if I  spoke with him about his riding habits. ....so I  placed my spare hi vis vest in his bike basket. Hopefully he will wear it. It is hi vis yellow with broad 3M reflective tapes.

I know those vests stand out, they just ain't cool. I wear a white helmet and white textile jacket. I've also got a Toumaster winter hi viz yellow and an Olympia hi viz lime green.....but geez....those 3m vests.....

Not sure if he will wear the vest. It's  mesh, light weight, won't  make him hot, adjustable for sizing.
He does not wear shoes unless it's snowing.
Arrives  before sunrise. ...leaves at dusk. Sits all day at the sidewalk table by my scooter, Holding Court with passersby. A very small town - but you would not believe the number of people who come each day.....and every week end it is packed! I've been coming since the late 60's.

BTW, cool looking coffee shop, my kind of place. When Deb and I travel we're always on the lookout for off beat coffee shops. There's one in Nederland, Co where they took 2 old wooden passenger train cars and t'd into each other as one is a coffee shop and the other a bike shop. The exterior is weathered oak and the top of the outer walls curve to the roof with tiny windows like the old vw hippie vans.

Yep, hi vis vests, they really work well. I ride into town without it, but headlight on, to do shopping, thats only a 400 yards ride at 20mph, last 100 yards 3mph! But any further, its hi vis everytime. You see reactions of cars users quite early, as the hi vis catches their eyes well. Also takes away the dependancy of using the headlight during a bright sunny day and letting the battery charge nicely. Its sleeveless, only cost £2 and has all the 3M reflective bands....definate life savers!
