Anyone ever replaced rear turnsignals with LED's
« on: May 28, 2014, 11:34:21 AM »
Anyone ever replaced rear turn signals with LED's. Id like to do this and get those signals that are ready to be broken off integrated into the rear molding. I see also using LED's would bring the price of a modulator down quite a bit.

Any DIY info for doing this on the super 8.

Also what amperage and or voltage rating are needed for replacement LED's ?

Now if someone could just make a video of how its made: what parts were used and how the light fits in the new location.

You can buy exact replacement bulbs. Plug, and play as it were. BUT you have to replace both the front, and the rear as well as the flasher relay. Your OEM flasher will not work at all.

You will need either a 2 pin or a three pin depending on which one is in your bike. Replace the flasher, and replace all four bulbs w/ LED's    done!

The whole shebang costs less than 20 bucks, and will out last the bike.

The hardest part about doing LEDS in the super 8 is opening the damn thing up, prolly the hardest 150 Kymco to get into. You will need to drill holes for 1156 base sockets into the trail light housing, then epoxy the sockets in. Not to hard and most of the work is figuring out how to remove the tail plastic. Like zombie said, if you do use leds you will need to use a led flasher or install inline resistors.

I prefer the electronic relays for the few $$$ they cost. No point in saving power w/ a LED, and then throwing it away w/ resistors. I actually forgot you could use them... (resistors)

Totally agree with the redundant effect resistors cause.
