General Discussion / Re: Today's odometer reading
« on: December 09, 2023, 01:08:41 PM »
Not to one-up you klav, but this is my odometer reading today on the Cali Classic 200i (separate post coming)

I always preferred analog odometers for this sort of thing.  It's cool watching all the digits rolling over at once.

It's good to see someone racking up some miles on a small scooter.

General Discussion / Re: The end of gas-powered motorcycles?
« on: December 08, 2023, 11:17:46 AM »
We won't be dead!  It's only a few years from now!  Try to focus: the question is "will gas-powered scooters be banned after 2030 along with cars?  Or will gas-powered scooters be exempt?"

Cars will only be banned in a few locations by 2030 and even that is likely to be pushed back.  Much of the world will still be buying ICE powered vehicles well past 2030.  These bans mostly apply to the selling of new vehicles.  This means ICE vehicles will be on the road until well past 2050.  Where I live they are building gas stations like crazy.

Recent news articles show that the demand for electric vehicles is below what is expected and many manufacturers are scaling back plans for EVS in the immediate future at least for the USA.

General Discussion / Re: Winter’s here

It's still fall here in Alabama.  I went for a 200 mile ride Saturday.  It was 45 degrees at the start but warmed up to around 60 by afternoon.  We still have some fall colors here.

The group I rode with.

I've seen a lot dogs on motorcycles/scooters but that's the first cat I've seen.

I joined this forum back in November of 2010.  That's when i bought my first scooter, a 2009 Kymco Super 8 150.  I don't have that scooter anymore but it is still the scooter I put the most miles on with over 33,000 miles before selling it to a friend.

General Discussion / 22K valve adjustment on my Like 150i
« on: November 15, 2023, 02:29:32 AM »
I last adjusted the valves on my like at 11,500 miles.  The recommended interval is every 5K miles but I didn't check them again until today at 22,000 miles.  I could have waited another 5 or 10K as they barely needed adjustment.  The Intakes had loosened to .005 Inches from .004 so I adjusted them.  The exhausts had not moved so I left them alone.

As with many modern scooters removing and replacing the plastics is a PITA while the actual mechanical work is pretty simple.

General Discussion / Re: NSR. Riding some ginormous beasts.

Have to be the first one pictured for me Klav.  That is one good looking machine!

That FTR was the one I went there to ride.  It was incredibly powerful and I'm glad I had the chance to ride it but it wasn't comfortable at low speed (under 60MPH) and it was buzzy.  I actually enjoyed riding the Challenger more.  Maybe if I had the chance to ride them both in the mountains, not city traffic, I would feel differently.

I do agree with you the the FTR is a great looking bike!

I rode this one too.

This one was less than Ginormous.

After I finished the Demo rides I got on my 290 pound, 13 HP Like 150i and rode home.   Quite a contrast!

My favorite of the day was this Challenger.

It was lighter and faster than the other ginormous beasts.

I liked this one so much I rode it twice.  Will I buy one?   Are you kidding!! Did you look at the MSRP?

The India Demo truck came to town so I went and rode some.

This thing was FAAAAAST!

Most of the other bikes I rode were Huuuge and had a price tag to match.
