Technical | How To / Re: Drive Belt Length = more speed?
« on: September 03, 2019, 02:38:47 AM »
A longer belt adds an unknown variable. From my experience it causes more vibration at idle (being a looser fit) and slapping at higher speeds, colliding with the transmission cover.

The reason I ask is these two scooters have the same part number but the belt length is 6mm longer.  I read that it will get the the top of the variator to give you that little extra.
Just curious because the longer belt is on the 2 stroke so more power obviously so I am wondering with the BBK if its enough power now to use that longer belt.  Also I have the Hi Speed Polini oversized variator so mike make a difference.

Just curious as I was checking part numbers when looking up drive belts for possible engine swap.

There were two different belts listed but one was a little longer.  737mm vs 743mm.

Would the longer belt give you more speed?

Technical | How To / Vitality 2 stroke swapped into Super 8 4 Stroke Scooter
« on: September 01, 2019, 03:01:05 AM »
I am looking at picking up a 2009 Vitality 2 stroke for parts.

Wondering if I could swap out the 4 stroke in my 2015 Super 8 4T.

It seem that they have a similar drive belt (737mm vs 743mm but it seems these are interchangeable based on looking up part numbers)

Would I also have to swap out the gears as well to match up?

Thanks

it might be your fuel filter . and have you check for spark , make sure it was strong not weak(cdi might be going out).and have you tried adjusting the carb could be running rich or lean .you also might be having leak around your engine gaskets or your lines . with it running see if you can some or here any odd sounds or feel air being pushed out (and not from the exhaust lol) lmk if any of this helps and report back with what you find  so we can go from there..

Turns out the CDI was defective.  Running well now.

Technical | How To / Scooter starts but stalls when you give it gas
« on: July 22, 2019, 11:22:49 AM »
Hey all,  friend of mine pick up a scooter and he thought is was an easy fix.

The scooter starts every time but sputters at about 1300-1500 RPMs, but as soon as you try to give it some gas it stalls.

So things that have been done:
New spark plug, New Carb, New coil, New gas (super of course),  all grounds checked.

Now for some reason it worked for a day with no issue then the next day back to sputtering.  Caveat here is that is a 137QMB and not a 139QMB(GY6)

And ideas appreciated

First off install the smooth Boss for the variator maybe 6.5gr rollers
Then install the 82 main jet that came with it.
install a 1000 rpm spring (Naruka makes a good one.
there is a washer that also restricts you in the Intake manifold (between carb and engine)
lastly if you look at your CDI next to your battery, remove the one of the  purple wires with the red strip from the harness.  This will remove the rev limiter

Outside that you will need to install a BBK.

I have a similar set up and I only put a 92 jet in the carb.

I also have 6.5gr weights and I am hitting 7800 rpms.  These are meant to hit a power band at 7400-7600 rpm.

I would look into gettin and installing a tachometer just to make sure.

I suspect his kit is for the GY6 150cc.  Go to a parts breakdown online.  Check part #'s for the 2 stock 49cc gears vs. the part #'s for the 2 stock 150cc gears.

I have had no luck finding this information  It doesn't seem available for my scooter.  There is something mysterious to all the parts dealer when it comes to the 2015 Super 8 50R 4T.  Some weird mojo going on with this scooter.  Driving me nuts because all I am trying to do is get an extra 5km/h steady out of it.  Move the power band from 63-67 to 68-71km/h

Not asking the world but will avoid buying a 4 stroke at all cost next time now that I am informed.

Cheap one - 7 years - still working.
(which is longer than most will own the scooter)

Stig

Spent $7 on a cheap with non replaceable battery and it lasted 1 year.  Bought the same version for $12 more but can change the battery.

I am on year 3 with my scooter.  I plan on  passing it the boys when the time comes.

Is that kit in the video for a GY6 49cc or a GY6 150cc?

Great question.  This was on a Honda Ruckus.  I think he says 232cc  but could of been 72cc with an accent.
I actually emailed the gentleman about his gear up kit and have yet to get a reply.

Also Kymco Canada does not answer any questions either.  I may just have to take it apart.  Not looking forward to that.

Just make sure to get the one that you can change the battery with.

There are cheaper ones but the lack of this feature makes them disposable after the battery dies.

I am a little thick....this means you want to know the ratios and center distances so you can CHANGE the overall final drive ratio up/down 10%? That what you mean?

Change the gears to increase my top end speed.  It's usually listed something like 15/47   (small gear/big gear that turns the rear wheel)
Sometimes these are called gear up kits.  I think my issue is that my gears are a little larger than average so adding a typical 10% kit could be 20%.
Just want to make sure before I buy parts and pay for the pressing

This is the video shows what I am talking about and I added a picture

Why is this important? Is this question actually, "what are the part numbers for the gears in my 2015 Super 8 50R (4 stroke)?"

Sure.  I can't find them and the place I usually get parts from can't find them and Kymco Canada doesn't reply to customer inquiries at all.

I want to add 10% with my BBK installed now but I need to know the starting point and would like to with out having to take everything apart.
