togger, you tried to crank it 20 times?? I hope you let the starter rest and cool off between attempts or you will be buying a starter. Do you keep a battery tender on your battery? If not, you should., If you use a car charger to charge it, set it on 2 amps for about an hour.  if there is a Harbor Freights  tool store near you, you can get a charger/maintainer with pig tail for around $20. + tax. They work real good. It's made for small batteries. It will charge you battery back up and then maintain that charge.

de dee, not only does the battery power drop to very could weather , but the motor oil is like molases in January.

Haven't done an LED replacement, but my left brake light switch bit the dust with a tad over 3.000 miles. Seems to be a weak spot for the DT's. Several other folks on here have replaced BLW's on theor DT's.

Thanks you guys for the heads up on photo uploading and sending. I have a friend who knows his stuff when it comes to computers. He said he'll help me get set up. But I copied  down cubekoad and printed the procedure you suggested Snorvey, just in case he hasn't heard of it.

Yelp, that monsoon was something. Stayed wet the entire time. My biggest problem was crotch rot. I walked like a cowboy who'd been on a year long trail ride. I got some kind of powery, gritty stuff to wash with, but it didn't help. I was explaining my problem to one of the local ladies, of the night. She told me she knew something that would work. Seen her again in a few days and she had a little bottle of clear liquid. She agreed to administer it to me. So I laid down on a mat and she held the other half of her source of income up out the way and doused me good with the contents of the little bottle. A flame thrower could not of hurt worse. I screamed and cursed her and cried. Later I took the little bottle to the dispensary to see if any one there could read what was on the bottle. By then the skin was starting to scab over. My friend got some one to intrepid the contents and found out it contain 5% silver nitrate. No hair grows there, but I never had another problem with crotch rot. True story.

Much thanks for the prayers Stig and Forbes. As I like to say, "prayer is firing the winning shot in ANY battle." I've been on hormone therapy for 17 years for prostate cancer and that stuff destroys bones.
At my age, I never know what a day will hold, But I do know who holds that day. I've always been a car guy. I should be getting my new Dell tower tomorrow and I'm going to set it up where I can send nice pictures like Stig and Snorvey  and others do. This forum has been a God-send for me during this down town. Thanks guys for being there.

Either one of you guys ever drink army field coffee> You know where they fill a 32 gallon garbage can, for coffee only, I hope, and pour a pound of coffee in the boiling water, heated by a mermite, gasoline heater. The cooks always told us that after the coffee had cooked awhile, they just turned the heat down and put one large ladle of cold water in the can and ALL the grounds would go to the bottom.
I've chewed to many cups of that stuff to believe that lie. Now just about any cup of coffee taste good to me..

I can get a lot of pictures, but I can't send them until my new computer arrives. When to upload some pictures of some items I wanted to put on Craigslist and they would not upload from the camera and I went into my programs and the one for the camera wasn't there. This old Dell is about 13 years old and still using XP on it. I order a new Dell and it should be here Tue. the 16th. As soon as I can get it set up, I'll send you more pic's. I think I may have a couple in one of my albums, if I can find them, I'll attach one here. I'm not too smart when it comes to computers, so I can only send one shot per reply, unless some one can tell me how to attach more than one frame per reply. I'm gonna try to learn how to do the bucket photo thingie.

Yelp, boo, I can identify. As the ole saying goes, "The older I get, the better I was." I'm the sort that's got to be doing something. Right now that is restricted to going on line and building model cars. I have approx. 400 in my collection , so it's getting very hard to find a kit that I haven't already built.

Yes, that is just what I needed. Spending lots of time on the PC now that the hip and weather has me cabin bound. I'll be a raving lunatic before this is over. I think there are probably worse places to be confined. LOL Thanks again.

So you was born in Munchen, or Munich. I was stationed in Schleieeheim, across the strasse from Dachau. It was an abandoned German Luftwaffe air field, about 5 clicks north of Munich. I was with the U.S. army. A supply sergeant helping with the deactivation of army units that were being reassigned to Nam. Two places I really liked in Munich was the Hofbrauhaus and the Deutsches Museum. I was there in 67. Beautiful country.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the effort you have put forth to putting this information, concerning the RAF's sinking of the Germany battleship, Tirpitz, together for me. Thank you, my friend.
This is one story from that war that I was unaware of. I will place it in my WW2 archive. I knew that the RAF invented skip bombing I have several friends who love WW2 history also and I will share it with them. I would love to be able to walk down that shore line where the artifacts are laying about. The RAF and the USAAC (Army Air Corps) worked very well together. (The U.S military did not have a separated branch for the air force until after that war), but I'm sure you knew that. I've collected a lot of information about the U.S. military of that era, as my father was in the a member of a B24D bomber, bomb group, the 499th, stationed in Italy. He bombed Germany in 1943 - 45 and I was stationed in Germany in 1967 and was amazed at how much bomb damage was still visible. War is a terrible thing.
Snow on the ground here and more on the way, but until my broken hip heals, (3-4 mo.) I can't ride anyway. Take care my friend and thanks again.
