General Discussion / What's your favorite music?
« on: February 05, 2017, 01:18:36 AM »
I thought it would be an interesting thread if some of you would say what is your favorite style/group/song. . We have a varied group of folks here and thought it would be something fun for us to share.  I was raised on 60s and 70s hits and old school r&b and soul. Some of my favorites are Stevie Wonder, the Spinners, the Ojays, Steely Dan, and a lot of classic rockers. These are just a few but there are many, many more.

Eye Candy | Videos and Pics / Fall ride on the Cherahola Skyway
« on: November 04, 2016, 05:27:09 PM »
Heres a video I made of my ride on the Cherahola Skyway this past Sunday. I am still learning the editing basics. Hope y'all enjoy the video and let me know what you think. I had a great trip that day!

I took a trip this weekend from N. Georgia up to the Cherahola Skyway in North Caroline on my '93 Helix. I recorded a little video of a stretch of Hi. 68 in Tennessee that I really enjoyed. The video is a little raw, I am still trying to learn editing.

« on: September 29, 2016, 06:10:52 PM »
I am planning on making some windshield extension wings on my Honda Helix to give me a little better coverage this winter. Does anyone know what I can use as clamps to attach the extensions to the sides of my windscreen?

Technical | How To / Preventative Maintenance Battery Charging
« on: September 24, 2016, 12:10:39 PM »
I have a question. Is it helpful to put my scooter on a trickle charger to keep the battery at 100% even though I ride it daily. Was just wondering if keeping the battery at 100% all the time would be helpful for stator and battery life.

General Discussion / Need to keep my hands warm this winter..
« on: September 07, 2016, 11:52:40 PM »
Hello everyone. I am getting prepared for winter here in N. Georgia. I ride in practically all weather, except ice. Last year my coldest commute was 17 degrees Fahrenheit.  The biggest challenge I have is keeping my hands warm.  Last year I put heated grips on my People 150 and wore Army surplus mittens with liner gloves. This worked fairly well but my thumbs occasionally would still get cold and uncomfortable. I am considering some battery powered rechargeable gloves because I can wear them with whatever I ride and they do not require re-wiring or a drain  the charging system. Anyone have any ideas on a good, affordable, pair of gloves for me? Or is there another suggestion to solve my cold hand issues?

General Discussion / How to clean a textile jacket
« on: August 03, 2016, 09:36:16 AM »
Hello everyone. I have a Hi-Viz Terra Fly Yellow/Black riding jacket that is starting to get dirty. Can anyone tell me the best way to clean it? I have tried washing it in my machine at home with regular laundry detergent and I got poor results. Would a dry-cleaner be the way to go? Any advice?

Hello everyone. On the morning of July 4, Forbes1964 had and accident on his scooter. Due to  severe damage, his left leg had to be amputated below the knee. He is a good man that needs our prayers and help. If you would like to donate to help with medical and other expenses his sister set up a Gofundme site. Here is the link.

Xciting 250 / Need input on Xciting 250
« on: May 16, 2016, 12:43:58 AM »
Hello everyone. I am looking for my next scooter. I have settled on a 250cc bike. I determined this because the 250 is easier to maintain and cheaper to own than the larger displacement scooters. My requirements are that it needs to get 65 mpg and can cruise at 70 mph.
I am currently looking at a Honda Helix or Reflex but I really like the look and size of the Xciting 250. I am a little over 6 feet and have long arms and legs. Can anyone give me an idea how a non fuel-injected Xciting compares? I currently own a Kymco and I really like the brand.

Technical | How To / Blown fuse need help
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:56:35 PM »
I rode my Kymco People 150 to work the other day and it ran fine. I parked it and when I went to ride home,  I pressed the starter button, nothing happened. I got a buddy to give me a jump and still nothing. When I checked the fuses, the 7.5 amp fuse had blown. I replaced the fuse and when I tried to start the bike, it blew again. I could not get it to kick start so I had it towed to the house. What would be the likely culprit to blow this fuse? What does this fuse circuit control?
