Oil change:
Open 17mm bolt at the bottom of crank case.
Drain oil into a canister (not on the floor)
Clean the cap using carb cleaner spray or any other.
Clean cap spring and "filter" (metel net)
Re assemble ant tighten 17mm bolt back in the crank case.
Clean the area.
Remove dip stick and fill oil throw the dip stick hole usually at 50-300cc scooters 1 litter is what you need (900cc but i add a bit more)
Start the engine rev it up check for leaks
Air filter change:
Remove air box bolts
Note - some variator bolts are used to hold air box in place.
Rplace air filte and re assemble.
Check coolent level and air presure in tires and thats is it

I found pictures of the cvt overall i did a month back...

I did a complete variatior rebuild changed rollers and belt
Cleand the clutchand sanded down the speed bands (thats how we call them)
Cleand the bell and using a fine sanding paper smoothed it out
Greased it all at the right places
And that was it...

Ive been gone for a while.but my diy has been going!
3 weeks ago i decided i had enuf of my old long cleer wind braker
Sooo i started thinking and came up with a plan
All i needed was
1 16" car hub cap (plastic)
1 air pressure cutting tool
Several grade sanding paper
1 gloss black spray paint

I placed the plastic hub on the center line of the mask and lowerd it until i got the shape i had in mined
Then went over the shape with a thin black marker
And cut out the shape using the air tool
Then sanded the rough edge and painted black...

Before

After

All was going super well.and then 1 week ago i get on the xciting and... All the xcitment went away
I have a flat tire...
This was the point where i decided my tires are very old and worn out plus the air leak at the rear tire was from a patch made previously
So i went and bought 2 pirelli diablo scooter tires 150/70 r14 and 120/70 r15

And this is how my day lookd like

The teardown

Waiting to be replaced

New!!

No photos but a month ago i did a complete cvt overall sorry forgot to take picture...

I ride the xciting 250i and red line it to 70mph +
No problems with it
The only thing i noticed was every 600-700 miles it loses 50-60cc oil
No visible oil leaks but it makes sense red lining it for 45 min with no stops 50 miles

Xciting 250 / OMG!!! Variator exploded, WTF?!?!
« on: May 31, 2015, 02:49:26 PM »
Last night on my way home i get out of a turn and suddenly a loud bang and then some grinding noise group the Var area.
Lucky i was 100 yards from home so i pushed it the rest of the way,
This morning opened up the variator cover and first thing i see is 3 rollers crushed and out of their housing...
I open up the var and here is what i discovered:
1) the roller plate had split into 2 parts, sending 3 rollers flying in var cover
2) the flying rollers got crushed and couldn't be used again.
3) the broken piece of the plate that wasn't connected to the shaft created deep scratches in the roller housing parter the belt slips up and down and deep scratches in the fan (outer part off the belt) both parts couldn't be used again.

Ended up getting a 2nd roller plate roller housing and outer fan plate with new original kymco rollers and sliders
All together 100$ did the work my self so no labor expenses
Hope it dosnt happen again

Xciting 250 / Bended brake handles
« on: May 29, 2015, 03:22:10 PM »
Both my brake handles (front and rear) are bended towards the front in a U shape.
Don't know whay our how it happend i got it this way.
Is there any way of straightening them out? Maybe with heat and bending them?
Any thoughts?
