..with a restricted driven pulley, the drive belt slips in the variator at top end, which increases rpms and creates a loss of torque, due to the engine revving higher than the pipe's powerband...

64mph at 9100 revs, you got it figured out IMO.  I am running the Malossi torque driver and it has the weld machined off, is smooth.  So far, I don't think it's given me any additional top speed, so maybe I need to do some more testing.  Cheers

..That's not really a machined weld, on the malossi..It's just made smooth..

..what size drive belt are you running? ..I ask because if you remove that "restriction", you'll need a longer than OEM belt...

Why do you use Agility 50 driven pulley, larger OD?  The belt is a little wider than OEM, is it longer or shorter?


tha A50 pulleys are smooth, all the way to the bottom of their face..OEM super9 driven pulleys have a "hump" at the inner diameter, which keeps your drive belt from driving all the way down into the pulley..

...restricts top speed, causes belt slippage, which in turn causes premature drive belt wear...

Pb is power band. The agility 50, or a50 pulley is like the malossi, but without the different grooves or price tag. The belt is 3mm longer, I believe. And the rear pulley od only affects the takeoff, or low gear. Where the belt sits down into it would affect the top speed. The lack of that bead in the center may let the belt deeper.

don't need the malossi grooves..and yes, getting your belt as deep as possible into your driven pulley is ideal... especially for balanced performance and oh, yeah....top speeds....  :)

..the hump at the bottom of the s9 oem driven pulley is by design, a speed restriction.

In my experience, the oem KYMCO Agility 50 driven pulley AND torque driver..(which have not the hump...)
 performs very well, if ...you have a stage 6 MKII, (adjustable) clutch AND a Malossi blue 1500 contra...

..the common denominators to every one of my best S9 cvt setups are a Malossi multivar variator and boss, with oem drive face..Dr Pulley sliders, at whatever weights to keep rpms at PB uphill...Gates premium 732x18.5x28 drive belt..OEM KYMCO Agility 50 driven pulley and torque driver, with a Malossi Blue 1500 contra spring...Stage 6 MKII clutch...very adjustable..with a50 bell...Have to adjust slider weights and MKII spring tension to keep scoot in pb uphill and at take-off...


easy-peasy!

that's cool, I thought maybe 10500rev's.  you really got CVT figured out.  Tries is working to duplicate your ride, maybe me too.

...the absolute key is tuning to whatever pipe you're running...it wants a certain engine rpm as it's powerband..

..gotta tune carb to pipe, then tune cvt to keep engine rpms within that powerband...until you reach top end...

..cant do it without replacing the oem driven pulley...
