People GT 300i / Re: Versus Piaggio BV 350 or 500
« on: October 09, 2015, 04:09:38 PM »
Yup!
My issue with the 500 has always been power to weight. At close to 500lbs and 40hp it's kind of porky.
The 300 class Kymcos run approx 375lbs and 30hp. That said its a very comfortable ride.

I love the BVs but over the years had some dealer problems.

AMAC
Honda Forza? Not that I am promoting the Honda. I always see the Piaggio and kymco compared and seldom see the Forza mentioned.

Wondering if anyone has solved the top case rattle issue on there GT? Both of my GT's have had the problem with the top case cover rattling like crazy when I stop at a light. I tried a couple things to get it to stop to no avail. If anyone has solved this please let me know how and what you did in detail if possible.

Ride safe, mscmkr

Fabric tape from any hobby store. Shuts hard first time and then works great for vibration noise.

Temp solution: Clamp brakes and increase the throttle a couple times. This provides a quick fix but nothing beat cleaning like mentioned.

General Discussion / Re: Summer riding jackets?
« on: June 14, 2013, 02:35:46 PM »
Mesh jackets cheap or not so cheap are only  effective with enough air flow  to keep cool and still protect in case of a fall. When the summer temps are over eighty I remove the windshield, tolerate the bugs and enjoy the airflow. Tennessee country roads are outstanding but we see 90 and 100 degree days all summer.

Just curious

Not the original service manual but it's been a great resource for most service and repair issues.

Hey MMike,
I'm originally from Syracuse but moved to Nashville  TN about 20 years ago, I get back there a couple time a year. What do you guys have about a two week riding season? (kidding) I have the GTI 200 same color as yours and will probably change the top case this year. Did that go on smoothly or was there a lot of modifications.  Your scooter looks great and I regret not getting the 300 but I do love my bike.
Great final four this year.

I have installed a Biondi windscreen,  side bags made by Scooter Logic, ordered oil filters from racing planet (much cheaper than dealer) .
With Kymco's dealer network I have confidence in their ability to service and supply parts if I have to buy OEM.
This scooter can be a little heavy to handle when not running and agree with every point of the review I posted.
Once moving this thing is s stable (tire size a plus), it does idle a little rough at intersections but moves out quickly and smoothly. I bought the 200i on sale but if the 300i had been on sale I would have done that.
My daily ride is through the country about 20 miles each way and this bike does it nicely. Comfortable seat plenty of foot room and stable on windy days I weigh 210lbs (before Thanksgiving) and measure 5'11" tall.
I got sick of driving wide open with 150cc scoots and this seldom requires a full twist.

I had the exact same bike and story. Cruising along, started up a hill wide  open and then dead!
Same issue low compression same year same dilemma. I ended selling to someone with alot of time, energy and a garage full of old scooters (and eager to start a winter project).
I will give him a call and see where he is in the project.
