Downtown 300 / Downtown not starting
« on: December 03, 2017, 05:06:15 AM »
Today after filling up with gas could not start downtown 300i
Checked everything, brake switches good, fuses good, kick stand up, brand new battery, still, no start!
After new battery was installed lights come on but no cranks at all?
Had to get towed.
I’m thinking starter went bad? Any ideas out there?

Downtown 300 / Iridium Spark Plug
« on: July 17, 2017, 09:58:15 PM »
Replaced stock spark plug today at 7K miles. Installed NGK Iridium plug. Thanks to the directions found on this forum it was fairly simple. Small hands would come in handy as the space is tight.
Plug wires came of after moving it around a bit, used swivel head on ratchet and spark plug came out easy. Checked gap but was already set at factory.
There is a very noticeable difference in starting, and the power curve is much smoother, idling is about the same around 1700-1800...Starts up much faster now.
This was definitely worth doing.

Downtown 300 / Oil leak
« on: May 18, 2017, 03:09:19 PM »
After riding and scooter sits over night I have minor drops of oil under crankcase on oil filter side,
Have checked underneath can not figure out where it's coming from? Any ideas where to check.
Dt300i 6500 miles

Spoke to kymco joe at kymco
Oil was leaking small droplets from oil change bolt, seems impossible to get that washer that goes on the bolt, simple fix I used Teflon tape on bolt 3 oil changes no leaks.

Downtown 300 / Disappearing Fuel Gauge
« on: July 09, 2016, 07:40:56 PM »
Today I filled up my Downtown 300i with 2 gallons of gas, upon restarting the fuel gauge comes up and then disappears. Gauge shows when starting and then goes away. Does anyone know what causes this and a remedy other than going back to the dealer. One month off warranty. : (

Hey-
I had the same problem with my DT300i oil change. Plastic 17mm bolt stripped and would not come off. Nothing worked at all.
Then I went to Harbor Freight and purchased the 9 piece metric extractor socket set which has a 17MM included, cost around $20.00...great sockets, removed stripped plastic bolt in 2 seconds when nothing else worked. Purchased new plastic 17MM bolt from parts monster for $35.00 with shipping - what a rip off....
