For Sale / Grand Vista Part out / B&L update
« on: April 11, 2016, 07:46:41 PM »
Howdy everyone, Bettin here. Been absent for some time. Crazy 7day work weeks make it hard to have fun and help on forums. Anyway, still down in the Bay (Berkely). Little life update; I got a free Grand Vista when I started working at San Fransisco Scooter Centre (Sweet huh?) but have since been involved in a crash on the Bay Bridge and need to part the GV out and get back on my Bet & Win. Front forks are wrecked, and I suspect triple tree and frame is bent also. Everything from the legshield back is cherry, good seat (Missing hump). Windshield is good. Headlight is good. All electrical components good. Good plastics everywhere except from. Good mirrors minus slight scratches. Good gauge cluster. I'm swapped the motor into the Bet 'n Win. I'll slowly be posting the parts on eBay but I wanted to give anyone on here first dibs. I just need to recoup my $400 tow charge for getting it off the bridge. PS I was not badly injured in the crash, felt like someone punched my arm really hard for a couple days and a large bruise on my leg from it bending the handle bars about 6" forward. I ended up sitting on the scooter upright after the crash a little confused. Anyway, PM me if your wondering if I have anything. All plastics are red.

General Discussion / Best scoot shop in Bay Area?
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:12:40 AM »
Hey everyone, I'm moving to the bay area next week and need to get a sense for the shops in or around San Francisco. Will be applying for a job at a few and want to make sure I choose somewhere with a great reputation. On a side note anyone living in the bay area want to meet up for a ride?

General Discussion / Quick question regarding Wholesale Kymco Parts
« on: August 12, 2015, 07:01:49 PM »
Hey there forum, might be making a big move in the next 6 months, all I can say so far. But my main question is how many of you would get onboard with a wholesale type account for Kymco parts and accessories if I were to offer something of the sort? This is something I have though about since I've been on here and seen so many people post up "where to get Kymco parts" etc. Give me some feedback.

zx50 / Bettin's Coming down with the fever
« on: July 24, 2015, 02:53:24 AM »
Howdy everyone, just picked this pretty little ZX 50 Super Fever for $50!!!!!! Clean title, no cracked plastics, only 9000km. No compression on the engine, but zombie has been kind enough to practically give me a lightly used corsa 70cc top end for cheap. Will post some pics of everything opened up when I get there this week. Planning to flip this one, have to move at the end of next month, but that might change when I get it running hahaha.

Bet & Win 250 / B&W rebuild
« on: June 27, 2015, 05:05:34 PM »
If been crazy swamped at work, and dealing with my own projects so been away from the forum. Here's what I've been up to on my Kymco.

Dirty engine out

New piston rings, polished the carbon off the piston and polished the skirts. Very slight scoring on the cylinder, going to replace with stock 250 cylinder next year. Cylinder head old and very tired, ordered a new OEM cylinder head and valves.
Mmmmmm shiny

Bike is back together and runs awesome, runs cooler than before. Still only 100km on new engine, so haven't tested power yet. Two oil changes and valve adjustments in. Also installed a Puig sport windshield, had to order from Europe but it rocks, and keeps a lot of wind off my body. I'll add pictures later.

General Discussion / This is why you replace coolant on HD200
« on: May 14, 2015, 08:37:55 PM »
Almost every SYM I work on the radiator looks like this. IDK what they did at the factory but it is one major down point of most of the liquid cooled Sym scooters. Performed a full flush with distilled water and added high quality coolant.

« on: May 11, 2015, 09:25:47 PM »
Was riding around today and came across a meter reader on a honda pcx 150. He had blinking safety lights and a sign. Pretty cool to see at least someone making good use of scooters in America!!!

Grandvista 250 / Used GV seat
« on: April 30, 2015, 11:52:34 PM »
Hey anyone with a Grand Vista want a used seat to play around with making a more comfortable custom seat? A customer purchased a new seat and I have the take off, thought I'd post up here before throwing it in the dumpster. The foam and cover are in bad shape, but the bucket is still 100% intact and ready to make a more comfortable seat out of. Cover the shipping and its yours.

Technical | How To / Trying out Water Wetter
« on: April 27, 2015, 11:01:31 PM »
Hey everyone, just thought I'd start a topic on the Redline Racing product "Hyperlube water wetter" coolant additive. Heard mixed reviews so I decided to try it myself. Drained the coolant, just did a flush so I didn't bother flushing with distilled water. Added about .2L Water Wetter to my ~2L cooling system. My temps before were slightly high during summer, stop and go traffic would almost always be at 3 bars (Out of 5). My fan would constantly turn on in traffic. The bottle of Water Wetter was only $13 and should be enough for 3 or 4 coolant flushes, or pretty much a lifetime supply. I'll keep everyone posted, good and bad.

Nice spring ride, about 50km total. Rode from Lake Oswego Or. to Oregon City, then through back roads to Carver which follows the Clackamas River.
